Who's used them and what do you make of them
In all my 55 years of being involved with horses I view 'Horse Communicators' as complete and utter charlatans of no substance what so ever.Who's used them and what do you make of them
The greatest boon to all these "cold readers", whether of horses or people, is the internet and FB - do people not realise how easy it is to find out supposed "amazing" stuff about them?
People either believe in them or they don't. I don't believe & I think that they are charlatans who con people out of substantial amounts of money. I also think that some people turn to these people in desperation when they have tried everything else to get their horse with issues sorted out.
Some people will come out with amazing stories of how their horses issues were cured or some illness or injury started getting better or their horse's behaviour improved following a visit. They forget about coincidence, luck & good fortune etc that often plays a big part in sorting things out.
Horses are expensive to keep, save your money & spend it on something that will really help your horses behaviour like a skilled instructor or an equine behaviourist?
Oh, I don't believe in clairvoyants, Tarot Cards, Ouija Boards, the tooth fairy & the Easter Bunny either.![]()

I've used them before, and they've known things about my horse that they couldn't have found out via web
I have contributed my experiences to some of these threads before and been ridiculed by some very rude people.
Whilst I agree that there are charlatans in all walks of life and the unscrupulous will prey on the unwary, I think that there are many things that we don't know about/understand and that we will never understand if we close our minds to them.
I assume you mean credulous, not incredulous?!A very cynical and worldly-wise friend of mine (ex Pony Club DC so knows her marbles!!) used one, and went from being initially very sceptical, to incredulous
Well, indeed. Similarly one would have expect a decent level of skepticism from the U.S. Army, but apparently not - as Ron Ronson has entertainingly documented in his book The Men Who Stare at Goats.Just recently while TV channel surfing, I happened upon "Psychic Detectives", a programme made in USA about real murder cases which have been solved with the help of different psychics. I hardly think that they have been cold reading the police officers who didn't know who had committed the crimes. Admittedly in some cases it seems that the programme makers have been dredging the bottom of the barrel to find successful interventions but some of them have shown that the psychic really did pass on details which helped to identify the murderer and which could not have been known to any-one other than the murderer, where forensic tests hadn't found the evidence. I wouldn't have thought that there were many people who were more sceptical than hardened American detectives.

I used one about 5 years ago. She was a work coleague of a friend, who had told her nothing (purposely) about me of my horses. This woman was a hobby communicator of dogs and cats - she knew nothing about horses whatsoever and had never attempted to communicate with them before. She didn't even charge me petrol money, did it for her own interest.
I'm a scientist and a sceptic. She blew me away. She got NOTHING from my one horse - who at the time was closed down, didn't trust anyone, and was in the hapit of saying "Nah." to mayy requests.
My other lad, who I'd not long bought, was fascinating. Many things she couldn't have known, including some startling specifics. She said "He misses the cat..."
When I had picked him up, there was a hollow in the shavings in the corner of his stable. I asked about it, and was told that the yard cat slept there with him every night. Nobody knew this but me, I hadn't mentioned it to anyone (and the sellers of the horse were strangers many miles away). She also said she could see something on the wall that went round and round, and that he missed that too and liked to play with it. That would have been the spinny "Lickit" ball attached to the wall of his box then. That I also had no cause to mention to anyone. There was a load more, 2 sides of A4 she later sent to me. Utterly fascinating.
As a PS to this, just recently another friend tracked her down to communicate with a problem mare, and she's STILL not taking any payment, and she's still bang on. So she's not a money grabbing charletan, and there's something strange going on there...
