Never thought anything of it until today.........
H does RDA during the week so always has a handler and a rider at all times, so is a complete angel......
BUT, when I mount him, as soon as my foot is in the stirrup he walks away. Never been a problem until today !!! I know he does it out of wanting to get on with riding, no pain etc. When I get on, i grab a clup of mane, so I know I am not causing him pain, and lower gently etc. ALWAYS use mounting block too
well today, not sure what happened but foot must not have been in stirrup properly, slipped down the mounting block, him on the other side, hitting my bum and arm on the way down, still had hold of horse sitting on floor with legs out, he then proceeded to be a little worried that I was on floor, stood on lower leg, thankfully not full weight and then proceeded to put ALL weight on big toe.
Got up and made him stand still and got on, made him stand until I was ready, after girth and stirrups done, normally do this on the go !!! took him for a short walk hack, as leg and toe was agony !!!!
I think I have found myself something to improve and work on !!!!
Ice on toe, kills, bruise on bum, arm and shin hurts but luckily not as bad as it could have been, considering the size of him.
