I would just continue to hose that and put antiseptic on it especially when out in the field you don't want flies on it.
My boy had one on the near fore fetlock on the side, a kick no different in size, personally I would never risk it with joints, my lad also got kick up on the near hind small like that, I cleaned it and the day it was moist with liquid, so got the vet out who had to give him a course of antibiotics. It just from past experience with a livery who ended up with joint fluid leaking out which did not at first. It is more that you don't know what has been push in off the other horses shoes. hopefully i is fine, I just would not risk it. It's personal choice.Even for something as small as that? I haven’t ever had any experience with cuts over joints so this is all a bit new to me
That is good at least you have vets advice on it well done.Hey guys one final update - vet just phoned me after I sent photos she basically said the same as many of you, observe, keep clean keep moving etc. She thinks it’s fairly superficial (phew) and while close to the joint she is happy to observe for now and especially good that he’s not lame!
Thank you all again for all your advice, it’s always good to have other peoples opinions and previous stories!
