Did you manage to get hold of the passport etc okay in the end? Just read through the thread - what an unfortunate experience. I hope you find a good home for her, and let us know what happens.

car has just been released we are going to garage later to see. if I told you what happened yesterday no one on this forum would believe me. we decided to go to the livery in congelton where she came from, but we already new they wouldnt get involved, so we went to the town centre to the library to check the elecrol roll. we found one lady same full name living off a caravan park not far from newcastle road, by the legs off man pub where this livery is.And sorry that is all i can say cause nobody will beleive what happened next!!!!

To posh for brookside.! the only reason we went to congelton was the police told us it is a civil matter, in other words go away.but after yesteday we are keeping tilly, where she is in widnes for now, and with the help off experienced people find her a good home, we cannot afford to lose £1000, but as I said after yesterday we wouldnt let her go back to helen, because she is scum

I keep thinking its the next part of the mystery when this gets bumped to the top, so thought I'd comment & do the same to someone else!

I haven't read every single post on here, BUT may I urge a word of caution (several in fact!).

OP you're mentioning and identifying people by name here on this forum and I think you may wish to read the forum rules. Sorry, I'm not being stuffy, but I think you need to be careful.

Secondly, there's a lot of confusing information coming here; personally I would appreciate some clarity, i.e. I gather you "bought" the horse and/or had it on loan/trial/whatever for $1000 - is this dollars, Euro's, sterling, or what???

Have got some sympathy with your plight; it sounds like you've been well and truly "had"; but there are better ways, which I'm sure you now realise, of buying/loaning a horse than the way you and your sharer/friend have just done it.

OP what colour is Tilly? If this is all true then I have a horrid feeling I may know this horse - and if it is the one then it's a bad state of affairs believe me!

Hi my sister and myself bought a horse for £1000, with an agreement if she was not suitable we could have our money back, lovely horse just not for us, we rang the lady and
she refuses to take the horse back. false address on receipt. refusing our call to her mobile
so we have a horse we cannot ride, but what has happened the last 2 days tilly is better off with us, we have a duty now to find her a new more suitable home, we have her in a lovely livery.

Sorry but two words spring to mind; they are "Caveat emptor" (sorry hope I spelt that right). For those not schooled in Latin it means "let the buyer beware"

Yes, but surely, if I saw to complete novices come along, and I had a horse that had issues and I knew it was a handful, yet I painted a different picture in an attempt to sell it that is fraud.

Just like if I sold someone a cut and shut car.

Yes agree with poster above: think OP and her friend have been well & truly "had"; unfortunately this sort of thing happens all too often and the horse is passed on from person to person.

Also its very easy for a buyer to, dare I say it, fall in love with something which is a little bit too much horse for them only to discover they've got something which is a bit too high powered. Very easy to do, I've done it and will readily admit it, and yes the person in that situation knew very well that the horse wasn't right for me but wanted cash in their hot little hand PDQ.

A similar situation here methinks.

It is always important to keep the original advert of the horse. If the seller has misrepresented the horse in the advert then even if it is a private seller you can take take action through the courts not only to recover the cost of the horse but also any expenses incurred in keeping the horse.

There are different companies that freezemark horses.

Not everyone with a stolen horse that is freezemarked will think of informing the freezemark company.

What is the freezemark of your horse ?
