Thanks to everyone who responded to my last post about my new horse not settling in to his new home very well.
He is doing a bit better, although he really stresses when he gets brought in at night. He has really taken to two ponies who are next to him in the stable block and in the field. Whenever he gets brought away from them he turns into a beast. He plants himself to try and remain in the field. He tries to get past you in the stable before you have shut the door (he did make a bid for freedom earlier this week and succedeed all be it temporarily until I caught him again!). Then once you have managed to get out of the whirling stable of death he box walks, shouts, and throws himself at the stable door until his buddies arrive. He has only been with us 5 days, but you would have thought he would have learnt that the ponies are never far behind him! All this aside, he is much quicker to calm down now and once his is calm he is a pleasure in the stable. Easy to change rug, pick feet etc. He is also really chilled in the field now. So at least we've made progress!!!
