Horse wont come out of his stable

I was wondering how long it would be before someone cried "wah troll". Just because I hold different views does not make me a troll but it seems to be the usual insult that is flung around when long time Forum members have their views challenged.

I stand by everything I have said throughout this thread. I do not find it acceptable to inflict pain on my horses to make them comply. I manage to keep them perfectly safe in their fields and exercise them without the need to electrocute them/cause them pain..

If others chose to use walkers with electric prods and electric fencers then that is up to them but don't dress it up to be anything other than what it is. Deliberately causing your horse pain so it does what you want it do to do.

That is the last I will say on the matter.

And that’s great. I wish my horses would respect fencing, but they don’t. I can’t risk my EMS mare getting into a field full of lush grass, so I use electric fencing. It would make my life so much easier if I didn’t have to.

But I’m still baffled by the thinking that the two things are the same 😂

The very last place that a horse with colic should be is in a walker 😳. Electrified or not.

Walked out in hand, yes, if gas needs shifting, preferably on a soft surface so if the horse rolls it won’t get too injured. Squished inside a small moving metal cage? Absolutely not.
Isn't it weird

I've said about fifty times on this forum that vets advice with gassy colic (that the horse gets again and again despite best efforts) was to bute, horse walker and back in field an no-one on here has ever made anything of it before. Apart from today. How strange. Deliberately trying to antagonise.

So all the hundreds and thousands of people that use walkers on a daily basis on yards up and down the country must be wrong then. Ridiculous
I don't get the feeling from this thread that hundreds and thousands of people every day are using them with the electric on, as many people weren't even aware this was an option.

If you've been on a yard with one that is used all day every day then your "normal" is different from many other people's normal. Everyone's risk assessment is different and everyone's ethical compromises are a little bit different.
I’m pretty certain she has a bag of m+ms on her desk right now
No, but I did ask OH to bring me a bag back from the shop so maybe there will be soon 😂

Hope you’ve got him well trained!

Right now I KNOW you are being deliberately provocative. I did not say anything about using them with the electric on. Course they don't. I never suggested they did. 😡

Its a thread about people using the electric zap Birker and I am specifically talking about using the zap in all my posts.

It isn't trolling to respectfully share different opinions, that's true.

You are in absolutely no place to be calling other people out for being provocative right now birker.
Thats not really fair Ester. I'm not being provocative. I am trying to explain to people who seem hell bent on twisting everything I say for their own hidden agenda.

I have explained about five times that standard use of a walker means that you don't need to use the shocker but people are still saying it's disgusting using a walker to electrocute horses. Honestly 😬

I hate walkers. I see why they are used in competition yards where it’s all about money but I see no need for one in a real life scenario. Also will say I’ve worked on one yard which routinely used a walker while mucking out was done and no one ever told me zapping them was an option, it did have bristles like broom heads on the push bits which probably did the same thing.
They mainly get pet horses too fit while not exercising their brains at all or make them lame by the constant turning on joints. Imo.

This is one of those threads that makes me think I frequent a different universe to some people 😅
I’ve genuinely never given walkers much thought as I wouldn’t want one of mine walking in circles anyway. My exposure to them has mostly been minis doing whatever the hell they liked in them 😅

You put up a photo of another forum member from their Facebook to be deliberately provocative don’t you dare suggest you’ve forgotten that little incident in a few days

So, do we all at least agree that giving an animal an electric shock when it wont comply with walking round in circles is cruel?
Err

A lot depends on the surface of the walker (rubber is more detrimental than earth for example). And the perimeter. Ours is massive so the circles far exceed what you'd do on a circle or lunging.

Maybe this would be better on another thread. But please tell me how you would encourage a horse that you know has no physical issues to move forwards on the walker if you had to use one then?

What has changed in 2 pages then

My childhood yard has one that is never used, had all the internals removed and is now Containment Zone/ Sand Gallops for small dogs who cant mind their business while horses are being moved.

Hi Birker2020, I don't know you and I don't think we've ever spoken before. I'm certainly not hell bent on anything, nor am I twisting anything you've said (I directly quoted them), nor do I have any agenda - hidden or otherwise.

I am talking about the electrocution of walkers because that is a significant subject matter of this thread, and I was doing so before we started interacting with each other.

Can't you see what you are saying? Several people on here do not have a problem with using a walker but not with the use of the electric zap facility. The fact you don't need to use the zap is neither here nor there, the opinions are on the use of the electric prod for some and for use of either the electric and the walker for others. Just because you repeat something over and over does not make it correct and the final word on the whole thread for everyone does it? That is your opinion, it is not mine or others.
