Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for rubber floor covering for horsebox floor.
What's there at the moment is just too thin and worn away so needs replacing, so after recommendations if anyone has any.
Also, any preference between carpet or rubber for the ramp? The ramp also needs doing but has the same thin rubber currently, it's gets slippery in the rain (even though it is ridged and is equine matting) so wondering about replacing with either the ridged stuff designed for ramps (instead of having wooden/metal struts to stop them slipping) or with carpet?

Big or small lorry? Assuming a big one I just have heavy stable mats in mine and I'm replacing my tatty ramp carpet with some more heavy duty ribbed stuff. I can't believe the ramp rubber wouldn't be slippery, or heavier ?‍♀️ so didn't dare get any.

I put equimat lorry mats into my little box which were good but they did expand in the hot weather.

I bought EVA rubber mats for mine - they're lightweight and easy to move around. I was able to keep full sheets and they fit nicely, if I suspect if I was having to cut them and had awkward sizes they might be a bit too light and move unnecessarily.

My ramp I haven't touched, it came with carpet & wooden batons and we've never slipped on it - I've never actually used a rubber covered ramp but surely they're fairly slippy?

Should have said, small lorry. However it currently has almost a 1.3t payload so I can afford to lose a bit by putting heavier mats down/I don't need to be overly precious about weight. I'll get it re-weighed so I have an accurate payload once the works been done :)

Can I ask what carpet you're using @milliepops? I do think it would be better than rubber, even with the metal slip strips, it's not fun when it's wet. (If horse loaded like she should it would be less of an issue ? )
Do or can you put anything underneath to preserve the wooden ramp? That's the only advantage I can think of to rubber, is moisture shouldn't get through so no rotting etc?

I've got rubbery backed carpet, we also put that on small box before I sold it. I'll try and find the company I got it from, as they cut me a special sized piece ?

Definitely carpet for the ramp. My wee lorry had new rubber floor/walls/ramp when I bought it and the ramp was so slippy. I got carpet instead and it was perfect

Horsebox ramp is sorted, going for carpet :) thanks @milliepops

Horse area floor though there's 2 options.
Either 1 full size regular stable mat and 1 cut down, so 2 separate pieces. Figure if the join goes at the head end and is sealed with a bit of silicone I don't need to worry so much about leaks to the floor below?
Or
1 full size piece cut to fit

The second option is about £100 more, weight wise there is 2kg difference between the 2 so not of real consideration.
Any thoughts, is it worth an extra £100 to have 1 piece?!?! I have very limited funds so I'd rather not spend the extra but thought it was worth asking for opinions!

I think it's only worth the extra if you're going to fully seal around the edges - otherwise you've got somewhere for the wee to get through anyway.

(I'm one of the lucky ones, mine absolutely will not pee in the box!)

personally I'd be fine with the 2 pieces. we chose not to glue down & seal the rubber in my 3.5t because you only need one small flaw in the seal to let moisture through, and then you can't take it up to inspect it.
