My husband had a beautiful horsehair engagement ring made for me with some of Gypsum's tail, but sadly, it isn't withstanding the rigors of day-to-day life, most of which is at the barn. With all that entails. Water. Dirt. Mud. Sweat (yours and theirs!). Etc.
We're looking for someone to make a new one that will be resilient enough to cope with the barn. I know there have been other threads recommending people who make horsehair jewelry, and we've followed those links, but there's no indications that they will be any tougher than what we've got. The epoxy resin that held the hair onto the silver just wears off over time. Husband, who is a chemist and his day job is putting coatings on things (in aerospace) to stop them from falling apart in space, thinks we need one where they fully encase the hair in something hard. So far, we've found one person (via Etsy) in Minnesota who seems to do that.
I was wondering if anyone knows of anyone a bit closer to the UK who makes horsehair rings and fully encases them or does something to make them indestructible, so you can wear them all the time.
