Horsemeat banquet on BBC3

I don't know what if i'd be able to watch if there had of been a horse on the table. I know I felt sick when I saw all that meat though, knowing where it came through..

and meat doesn't have blood in it hence why it isn't bloody... being muscle and all

(meat has drip not blood - from a meat boff)

Was just about to post a thread about this :-)

Quite hypocritical people saying how magnificent the horse is and how it doesn't belong to the food chain, why is it any more magnificent than a cow?

Though I do believe people should know what they are eating, and if horse was in the food chain, then it should be farmed specifically for the purpose and free of all drugs.

By the way Pinocchio is Gorgeous!

I was watching comic relief the other night. The scenes of children starving I found very upsetting. I know that there is a lot of waste in the world as far as food goes, but to see these children starving is wrong.

I think the amount of horsemeat that is wasted in this country is sinful. I know it wouldn't help the children starving to death, because of economics, but to waste it when people are dying for lack of it is so wrong.

Horsemeat is probably fairly healthy when you compair it with beef and the amount of growth promoters and antibiotic's they put in cattle.

and lots of wine etc has powdered fish swim bladders (he forget the swim bit!), I think it helps with the clarity iirc.

I would NEVER knowingly eat horse meat. Eating horse is like eating my dog IMO.

Cows, sheep, pigs etc. are different to me but I understand if someone had a pig for a pet and didn't want to eat pork etc.

I think because of the way I feel about horses, eating them is something I would love to see banned worldwide. :D

I couldnt eat horse meat no different to not being able to eat my dog or cat. I just think farm animals are bred for size, meat and are fed and bred for the table ie some poultry breeds are bred as table meat etc. So I just dont see horses fattened up for meat as a viable option.

I would only eat a non farmed animal if I was starving hungry and there wasnt enough food.

I think I dont like being European! But I hear there is an unidentified meat in a curry somewhere....that cant be identified! Scary!

I could never look my animals in the face again.

That's why I am adamant I will not eat horse let alone contemplating it

If horsemeat becomes popular chances are the horse will be farmed similiar to cattle unless you buy organically. Personally I would never knowingly eat horsemeat, just my choice.

I thought it strange they would all try the bugs, but not the horse...

I see horse meat here every time I go to the supermarket, never tried it yet, and never even looked to see if its cheaper than the beef, which I dont buy due to the cost...

though I might next time I go,

Couldn't and wouldn't eat horsemeat.

Used to be this country's people were too aware of their own identity and how proud they were of our horse heritage. Even to alleviate the shortages stemming from WW2, horsemeat was rejected.

Nowadays we are told that we should fit in with Europe and we are the stupid ones for rejecting eating horses.

Personally I think it's borderline distasteful some people saying that if they had their way horsemeat would be banned worldwide, simply because they feel strongly about horses being pets and leisure horses.

What about in Third World areas with people starving to death?
