Horses being removed,large welfare case

and I am sure there are many of us on here know only to well that this case is probably going to be the first of many this year….
Also, forgive me but if I read about one more case where the mental health of the person/people to whom the poor animals belonged is blamed for the abuse, neglect etc I shall get even more angry….Its not just animal welfare either, it’s literally every case that’s brought to court….
definately with you on this.

with regards to the RSPCA. I know there are a lot of RSPCA bashers on the forum but in their defence I ould like to say that they themselves do not have a bottomlesss pit of money nor a bottomlesss pit of staff and volunteers. Same goes for all charities equine and otherwise. I know a couple of people who work for the RSPCA and whe nI was younger I volunteeered. They do their best even if it isnt alays good enough. They are snowed under with welfare cases. IYes i know the top poeple in the organisation get well paid but thats needed to keep the organisation up and running. there is a limit of facilities and people to deal with the rescues they can only do what they can do and ultimately non of it is their fault although they get pilloried for it. it is totally an wholy the fault of the animal abusers never that of any rescue organisation.

Totally agree, i also know someone who works full time in the equine rehabilitation side, i asked her why they get such a bad rep and why they often seem to not be doing anything. She said in a lot of situations their hands are tied as the abusers are often undesirable types who will threaten and carry out punishment to those involved which often means independent vets are reluctant to get involved and declare the animals abused/neglected, which leaves RSPCA’s hands tied

The research is moving rapidly. Some of the papers contradict each other. Nevertheless it is accepted that the infection causes mice and rats to become attracted to or to lose their fear of cat urine. If people are similarly affected (one of the premises touted in favour of animal research) then their less acute senses of smell might not allow them to differentiate between the urine of different animals. Possibly explaining why people in hoarding situations appear to be unaware of the smells around them and are unaffected by them, leaving aside the fact that the RSPCA never actually use ammonia meters to measure the ppm of ammonia present in the atmosphere.

If people become OCD, are attracted to urine smells, then it is quite feasible that those who work with animals, especially those who take in ill or unwanted animals, might be more likely to be infected.

The link would not be to animal abuse BTW. It would be to animal neglect, an important distinction.

Have you read a single paper by the authors you quoted? I dont think you can have. It may affect rodents in that way. IT DOES NOT AFFECT HUMANS IN THAT WAY! In women it actually makes them more sensitive to the smell.

As said, some of the papers contradict each other. Yes, along with Torrey Fuller's book. Recent research:

Don’t engage, folks.

so hard not to, but I'm not going to. Anyone interested can google it and see just how tin foil hat the theory is.

Has there been anything more about the Stud? I saw a few comments from people they owed money to and lots and lots and lots expressing thanks that something had finally been done. So clearly a long standing issue :(

I've only read about places with similar names making it clear that it's all nothing to do with them. Theres an organic farm called fordhall for example. Sorry about the bold.

BBC were filming but I've not seen anything on the local news. Does anyone know how many horses and dogs were removed? Thankfully they are safe now.

Fordhall Organic Farm has been in existence for over 50 years, my sister worked there, they and other Fordhall residents have been trying to get the authorities interested in the situation at this dreadful place for a long time and I hope every media outlet makes it 💯 per cent clear that Fordhall residents have absolutely nothing to do or are linked in any way…..

It happens time and again, its just taking on too much, not having any sense to forsee the costs, feed, vet input, hoof care, bedding, the sheer scale of the work involved in looking after large numbers, then comes a bad winter rising costs, mud, rain short dark days the relentless routine the thing collapses big time

Not to mention land management, fencing etc

I once visited a large stables in Cheshire the one responsible for the care of the Arab horses just left, the horses left in stables abandoned
