Horses coats

I always see horses with such beautiful coats any tips on how to get them looking sleek as winter approaches. Mine always looks like a bear can you stop their coats getting so thick do people rug up or just wait then clip.

Same here. I don't think there is any way I can avoid the teddy bear look with my horse - she just grows too much coat. I wouldn't really want to rug up early anyway, she'd just be hot, and still hairy!

I rug

he already has a fleece on at night,he is a tb and up until now have never needed to clip as he hasnt been in a great deal of work,but i rug well and his coat dosnt get to thick

My lad has a vitamin supplement,and due to grooming and rugging his coat in the winter is so shiny and healthy

However i dont overrug,as this can make them colder as the warm air cannot circulate under the rugs!!

tomorrow!!!

Then every 2-3 weeks through Sept and Oct - I did say she grows a lot of coat

George is usually pretty shiney, but then I do love grooming and I think the lo-cal he eats really helps. I either don't clip, or just give him a little bib clip in the winter, I start rugging at night about mid sept to keep the fluff under control.

Baz is always shiny - but gets lots of oil and Baileys Outshine when I'm feeling flush...and is rugged at the first sign of rain or a slight hint of cold!!
