Horses digging holes?

Poo picking today I found a nice big hole at the top of the field. I am blaming Robin rather than his buddy going by the hoof prints. Soli used to love digging a hole in the field too. Neither hole been rolled on. So just why??

I’ve watched mine dig holes and have a good munch in the past ?

Looked just like hoof prints but possibly. I saw him the other day pawing at a different place where there is a patch of water. I though he was just wound up and showing off to 2 mares in the school!

That is very true! I spend time trying to work them out then come to that conclusion and give up ?

Separate areas for rolling and for digging!! It was a very neat circle. Perhaps he was giving his buddy a tutorial...

He’s after after the soil .
or making a dew pond (Tatts did this ) it sounds like that but its not the right time of year perhaps he’s planning for the summer .
or he’s a destructive little monster with time on his hooves .

My horse digs holes doesn’t matter which field his in... he usually digs a couple of holes then when it rains and they become puddles he stands and plays in them ??

My friend's pony once dug a hole in the field that must have been over a field drain. He created a lovely wallow which he made full use of. He was small, square and chocolate coloured. We said he must have been a hippo in a previous life.
