I have just found out that my pony poppy has retinal detachment. Vet said on a scale of 1 to 5 (5being the worse) that 4 out of 5 in her right eye and 1 out of 5 in her left. vet wanted me to stop riding her for saftey reason's but at the moment she feel's no different to what she always has been. not as brave on her own when hacking but she only has a look she's not jumping around. no more jumping which is a shame cause that was what she was good at but not end of the world. she's in no pain but vet said there will be days when she's a bit down and probley has a headache so she has bute for a couple of days and see how she goes. if she's still fed up after a few days have to get vet back out but if she stays like she at the moment which is full of life then vet just wants to come back out every 6 months.
Does anyone else no anything about this or had a horse that it's happened to? if so what did you do?
I am gutted but vet said theres nothing that can be done with horses eyes.
Will be gratful for any advice.
