Small problem in the grand scheme of things. But FFS

Poor horses haven't left there boxes for 2 days now! They are all ok but the wind is just awful and yesterday's rain! I tried to get them on the horse walker but as I went to fetch the first one the walker roof blew off! I now have no access to the fields as bits of horse walker are flying around!

The school would be ok but They could jump out, I will lunge a few but some have leg injuries meaning they are only allowed turnout.

FFS FFS FFS!!!

Same here, I think just about everyone is in the same boat to be honest. We're lucky that the horses aren't kept in unless it's really really bad, so this is the first time they've been in for more than a day. They're been in 2 days so far and will be in all weekend too. Can't complain though - it's far too dangerous for them to be out due to power lines coming down in the wind in neighbouring fields and three threes have fallen and damaged the electric fence.

Going to get my boy a treat ball though, he will like that :)

Mine is on restricted turnout while the weather is so bad, he is arthritic and really struggles in the mud. I thought I'd be kind and get him a treat ball to occupy him while he's in, but he's too thick to figure out how to work it! Bless him..

Haha well I have a Welsh D so I'm hoping he will work it out - they're meant to be fairly bright I've heard. I had one for a pony years ago and he was a bit dim - just tried to smash it to pieces by stomping on it!

Mine have been out twice since last Friday! That was only for a couple of hours at a time too. I feel really guilty, but my mare is more than happy to eat hay in her stable. They last went out on Thursday. Today and yesterday it's been a case of tying up outside the stable to muck out then back in again. I did give her a five minute walk around the yard today much to her disgust, why walk when you can eat!! The shetland had a mooch around the yard then put himself back in again and the welsh has a huge stable to walk around so left her be.
Hoping the wind dies down a bit later so I can turn the two mares out for a leg stretch but not counting on it. The electric fencing is blowing all over the place anyway, the ground is so wet that a lot of the posts had been pulled out this morning so can't turn out until the fence stays up!
I suppose I should be thankful that I have three horses who don't stress about staying in but it is a worry!

You are lucky!! Mine hates it, she would just injure herself galloping around the sodden field in a panic if I put her out!

Ours have been out once in about two weeks. I'm the yard owner and haven't stopped people turning out but they have chosen to leave them in. My horse actually seems quieter being in.......but we have been to shows, lessons etc and can still ride in our school.

I wish I could ride, but without a menage, and only roads to ride on, my sense of self preservation has come to the fore I'm afraid!

That's not dim - that's the quickest and easiest way to get to the goodies!! (How can you tell that the one we bought our boy lasted 20minutes!)

Mine have been on limited turnout for over a month and not out at all in nearly two weeks. Have tried to ride as much as I can but not always possible/safe in the conditions we have had. I have no school so hacking is the only option which makes things trickier.

Although I am loosing the will to live I do realise that we have been extremely lucky compared to other areas.

Mine have been out through all the worst weather, they do have shelter, and this is when I am glad of stone walls which do not blow over in the wind, although they do collapse when water runs underneath them! At 1000ft, we do not get many days when there is not a wind, so have had to learn how to keep hold of buildings with extra measures.

Two youngsters think the three trees down in their field are their special treat for browsing and stripping bark! Just lucky with two unshod on 6acres they can still live out.

Hope for everyone's sake the rain stops and we get some drying winds to help improve things.

They could jump out, and they may not, a few haynets to interest them and i am sure they wont jump out, just a good buck and a run will suffice. You wont know unless you try

Livery yard that my two are currently at hasn't allowed us to turnout in the fields since mid December :( They go out in the school for an hour or so each day but it's not much fun for them :(

Mine are in overnight now and the girl who rides my riding mare brings them in early on the days she rides. They don't mind the wind but do have thick hedges and trees to shelter. Last night was bad but as I have large open top type stables they don't mind a full lock down or being in for a good amount of time. I am really struggling to find the time, weather or energy to ride though. I should go now - it's dry and the wind has died down a bit but 3 stables to do before they come in so its a case of doing what has to be done!

Thankfully, the wind abated by 3pm so went back up to the yard and put mine out for an hour and a half! It's almost like a spring evening out there, the sun still hadn't set by 5.15!!
