I got my mare as a 4 year old from a dealer - just off the boat from Ireland. So I wanted an Irish name for her and chose Aisling (pronounced Ashlene). It means 'dream' in Irish apparently. She's grey, so I thought at the time I could shorten it to 'Ash'. This never happened and she's stayed Ashlene - or sometimes Lene!
I mentioned my mare in another post about horses with ridiculous names. She's called dyllis. She was very dithery when we bought her so she got the nickname dithering dyllis, and it kind of stuck hehe. It does suit her though
Honestly no idea what was going through the previous owner's head when she chose it. The only upside to it is that Stacy does seem to be unique as a horse name at least! It does mean though if I ever get a gelding who needs naming I would be highly tempted to call it Gavin
All the talk of Daves a few pages back reminds me of a time I rode in the US - the horse I rode was a Peruvian Paso called Dave. The instructor rode his full brother who was called Cory. Cory
