Just been reading another thread on here. The OP has some stunning horses but one of them has a moustache.

I just. cannot. deal. with moustaches on horses. It makes me cringe sooooo bad.

Anyone else?

surely it is each to their own and no one is expecting you to buy one !!!

mine had one, but living out keeps it down.

So if a perfect horse came up and it had a moustache you would pass him by ??

hhhhmmmmmm

I love them. I prefer them in their own clothes and dont like their whiskers etc taken off....as always live out 24/7 foraging I always like to think they are a warning that something prickly is about to be munched. ie Radar system.
Dog is same leave whiskers, taches on!

Now if you are talking humans I cant abide them. Yuk! Unhygeinic yuk food stuck. I bristle..What is Michael Owen thinking of..handlebar tache.

Hairy cobs yes........... Hairy bikers No!

Yes, I would. I just can't bear them. -shudder- No idea why- they just make me cringe.

(This is meant to be a light hearted thread, by the way... ;) )

They make me cringe too! They remind me of these guys :o

I agree, I dislike them intensely, it wouldn't stop me buying the horse, the one shown on the cob thread is just horrible IMO, but each to their own I guess, the scissors would be the first bit of equipment he'd see if he were mine!!

That is so funny..............! Good likeness. But beauty is in the eye etc.

Still love that cobby tache and I think the hairy tache is cute. I was very proud in the winter when my old cobs tache appeared.

I think its cruel to get rid of it. Its there for a reason as a sensor and if you shave them off then you are stripping the horse of a tool that need to survive. My old lady looks like one of those old grandmas that you dread kissing because of the prickles you get but she also has a mane that hasnt been pulled, a coat that hasnt been clipped and various other au natrel things that I know people look down on me for. Like someone else said each to their own.

Thats the point I was trying to make. I feel its sad when people shave their horses faces and all the whiskers are taken off for exactly the above reason. Sense animals. Protection from flies etc too, leave them hairy Dougals!

Our baby cob has a 'tache in winter-think the harder ground in summer helps rub it off, not keen on it myself as it's always wet and foody  and very, very yuk. Still cute though :D as long as he doesn't dry it off on me!

One of the tbs likes cob's 'tache so much, he's trying to grow one himself. Not doing badly for a non-hairy and it's grey (he's bay) so somewhat distinguished.

The mo on that cob though-have to shave it or wax it, not keen on the catfish look.

I would hate have a horse that looks like the one in the other thread. Horrid. Glad none of mine have a hairy monstrosity like that on the end of their snozzle!!

See, I'm not convinced about this bit. My mare has grown a moustache for the first time EVER this autumn, since moving fields and having her muzzle on again.
It's not a world beater handlebar style, but it's got a parting and everything:o

I'm pretty sure it will wear off when she has the muzzle off again.

I'm leaving it on for amusement value at the moment. I don't clip whiskers though, I do agree that they serve a useful purpose and love her extra long eye whiskers.:)

They tend to have things for a reason. Watch them eat and you'll see them use it.

I like horses au natural. I don't particularly like very long taches but I wouldn't take it off without good reason. I've taken manes and tails off completely previously but only for the horses sake.

I don't have a problem with people clipping moustaches off. Whiskers should stay, but moustaches don't serve the same purpose IMO.

Meandmyself you may want to avert your eyes now.....

(Snot is there because she sneezed right before the photo-cue much cleaning of camera and my face!)
Also does anyone know how to resize photos on photobucket?

Taken it your on about the M'tash cutting it off would like be cuttin a chunk of him off.each to ther own but it serves a purpose.

Gosh, thats a bit mean, surely? Id be cross if someone started a thread about how ugly ned is.

"say what you want about me, but never talk ill of my horse"

for the record, I love mustaches

I'm not that keen on moustaches on horses, it wouldn't put me off buying one though if everything else about the horse was what I was after.
I'm not that keen on droopy bottom lips either, but I bought a horse with one as he was perfect in every way.
When I ride him I can see it wobbling backward and forward, in his shadow!!

Each to there own :)

I love a horse with a tache, I can't help but have a twiddle of them lol. I hoping my cob grows one. Might be a silly questions but do all cobs get them?
