I had a good sort of of all my horsey bits and bats I don't use/never needed and took them to a horsey car boot sale that was running locally.
Everything I had was washed, clean and IMHO fairly priced, bearing in mind I knew buyers would want to haggle so was being realistic about price.

Well......HARDLY SOLD A THING!! Primarily because I wasn't going to sell clean, undamaged Nuumed numnahs for £1 each nor was I going to sell an Albion saddle in excellent condition for £100!! The woman commented that the price I wanted "wasn't trading money". No love, it wasn't trading money, it was a fair price as I would rather keep it forever than give it away!

So after lots of interest in rugs (washed, re proofed and bagged), none were sold as apparently none were worth over £10 (Rambo and Weatherbeeta must be rubbish makes of rugs )

So all in all, after paying for my stall, buying chocolate for my helper and a bottle to drink while I ranted at my OH when I got home, I made £10.

Don't think I'll bother doing another!!

Stick it on ebay :)

I've tried the saddle on Ebay before but it didn't make anywhere near what I wanted :( So the Ebay fees got paid but I made no money!

I know people are feeling the pinch a bit at the moment but the main haggling woman had a nearly new pick up and said she lived in Ireland and had a small holding in this country!

The sales do seem to vary a lot. We made loads of money at the Bozeat table top tack sale in Jan. However we didn't sell everything as, no, I wasn't going to sell the barely worn adults tweed jackets for under £15. I was surprised at how people were trying to sell really dirty stuff, although we did have some unwashed rugs because I had worked out that there wouldn't be any profit left if we had forked out £12-15 to clean them.

I found that with a car boot too! I had a bunch of brand new things from a little ebay shop I had that I wanted to clear, among some other old things - the old things and rubbish little bits like overreach boots and grooming bits all went for £1 - £5 but no one wanted a brand new rug or whole bridles etc :-( plus I bought loads of things when I was there haha!

In the end I did end up practically giving the rest away on eBay, sold a brand new saddle for about £50, was only a basic one but still! Now I could do with a saddle, damn!!
