My OH's birthday is coming up and he's just starting a share on a horse and I thought some horsey presents may be good for him.

He's got hat/boots/jods etc so was thinking of a starter kit for him. So boots for share horse, his own grooming kit, schooling whip etc.

He's been having lessons on this horse and is now starting to share him which he's really excited about.

Any other ideas of what might be a nice present for him? He's turning 22 and is quite novice with horses but v keen!

Thanks :-)

My OH suggests nice, supportive pants and a memory foam seat saver (so at least IT will remember what his anatomy was like, even if HE can't! ;))

Why boots? Does the horse need them?

Grooming kit is a great idea and a schooling whip AND a short crop.

Lol at the seat saver!

Each sharer at the yard seems to have their own things for the horse (I have my own boots, numnahs etc for my share horse).

I like to have my own things so I can take home and wash etc withou worrying about someone else needing them but I guess he doesn't neccesarily need them :-)

Will look for supportive underwear etc then! Was also thinking of paying for a couple of lessons for him and share horse aswell to get them safely on their way! he has been having lessons on horse for 3 months or so but as an almost complete beginner he'll be needing a lot more!

A lovely pair of gloves (love roekyl as does OH).
How about some horsey books? 101 schooling exercises and others in that range are wonderful. For a non-fluffy look at horsemanship that is just lovely to read, try Mark Rashid.
Lessons are a really good idea too.

Nice set of photo's of share horse in frame. Or/and Lessons with a recovery kit for all those aches and pains you get when starting out to include things like, nice bottle (booze), radox, followed by a meal out.
