It's that time of year again. With 2015 almost upon us I thought it would be fun to start the horsey resolution thread.
I'm pleased to report that we ticked off all but one of our resolutions for 2014 and I'm beginning to feel like H and I are a real partnership which is nice. H's Christmas presents consisted of lots of schooling/dressage books and the prelim/novice tests so a lot of 2015's focus will be on dressage and putting in the schoolwork to get him to the level I want, which will be tough as all my previous dressage horses have been schoolmasters.
So here's mine for the year...
1. We did a handful of intro tests this year to give H a feel for dressage whilst I worked on getting his canter balanced at home. Now he's fitter and finding canter work a whole lot easier I'm planning to get him out to some prelim tests this spring with a highly ambitious aim of doing our first novice test by the end of summer.
2. I recently realised that I hadn't had a jumping lesson in about 10 years so I plan to pull on my brave pants and start working on our jumping. We're already popping logs whilst out but it would be good to get back to a point where I'm really enjoying jumping rather than my "feel the fear and do it anyway" approach I currently have.
3. And if 2 goes to plan I hope to take H out hunting next autumn.
What are your plans for 2015?
