When it rains hard, the settlement tank which a lot of my field drains feed in to is overwhelmed. It filters out of this in to a long pipe which goes in to a culvert which takes the water off our land. The filter cannot cope with the volume, so the water overflows from the previous manhole, flooding the pole barn, winter turnout and stopping the school drain (which then freezes).

I recently bought a submersible pump and 120 m of hosing which I have laid diagonally across Field 1 into the culvert. It pumps approximately 150 l/min and even so it has been overwhelmed at times. So if its pumping 150 l/min out and cannot keep up, that shows the volume/minute coming in.

Parts of ours are completely waterlogged but we are fortunate that our fields are on a slope so the top fields are pretty dry. Worst parts are gate ways but OH did raise and put drainage in the two most used gates a few years ago and they are brilliant as stay very dry thank goodness. Could be better but could be an awful lot worse.

A railway used to run the length of our field when it closed they removed the track and sleepers but left the tons of aggregate used to stabilize the ground
So we keep the horses on the old track and put hay nets on the trees. No mud but a bit of standing water in the low bits

I'm on sandy soil and have more room than I strictly need. Rooni always creates a wallowing pit and the corner he stands in is a mess but I just accept it. The gateways are all fine and they come in with mud on their feet (and Rooni all over his face) but that's it.

Fig is on very restricted T/O currently so his patch is fine and Bruce is very gentle on the ground as all he wants to do is eat.

I have had a man who can come up the grass walkway and take away an old rotting pile of logs and the forklift has chewed up 2 tracks with the rain but nothing horrendous. By walking on either side the rain has already melted the mud almost flat again.

Not sure how but this is the extent of the mud in my twos field yesterday. Is just over an acre. I have another field but I like to have my two together. We are at the top of a hill. The track to the stables is pretty muddy as the muck trailer is driven down it but really bloomin lucky
