After I lost Wish, my lovely lurcher in the summer I said I wouldn't have another dog for myself; after all, we do have five here already and they're fantastic, a tightly knit mini community and it seemed a shame to upset the mix. I was adamant that I didn't want a puppy.

David and Alexa, our vet friends have been sending me pics or telling me of ones they've had into their surgeries with little effect until A sent me these pics on Monday.

I just knew she was the one!

Turns out that she and her sister were found in a cardboard box in Shrewsbury, taken to the police and handed on to the dog warden. The sister which was black and white was fine condition wise but they were worried about this one as she was so thin so she was taken to A's surgery to be checked over. Badly dehydrated, pitifully thin, she was given some food and drink and left in overnight where A saw her the next morning and immediately thought of me! No health problems they can find but too poor to be wormed, jabbed or chipped yet she is as friendly and lively as a cricket, goes around like a blue arse fly! There's definitely whippet in there but not sure what else and I think she'll be broken coated too and she hasn't even started to change her teeth yet so we think she's only around ten weeks. How someone can dump puppies like that I have no idea, it's just such a good job they were found and taken in. :bh::omg:
The nurses had called her Biscuit which I wanted to change to Tango as in she's orange and Alexa had finally 'got' me but she isn't a Tango at all so she is now and finally Ice on account of the season and she's so sharp. So please meet Ice. She has some big boots to fill but she seems a huge personality already and has slotted into the old gang as if she's always been here. Will get a video up of her being a dervish soon.

She is adorable, such a sweet face but definitely cheeky too.
Some people need shooting for dumping poor, defenceless animals like that. But luckily this one has a happy ending.

Well done you and hope you have years of fun together.

What a little sweetie :) It never fails to horrify me what people can do to dogs....horses....their fellow human beings....there are some very nasty people out there :(

She is absolutely gorgeous! She looks like she has oodles of personality, I'm glad that your vet friends were able to persuade you to take a look at her.

I then did a double take as your terrier's face is identical to that of our lovely old girl who we had to have pts in the summer!

She is absolutely gorgeous!! So pleased you were persuaded to take her on.

It's so awful hearing all these tales of animals being dumped and left to their fate, makes me so very sad.

Lucky Pup she's georgous I hope her sibling has a soft landing too.

I know, I feel guilty for not having her too after that start but OH would go spare again! He wrung A's neck when she brought her here but within minutes it was cuddled up on his lap so he cursed the people that did this instead! TBF to them, the pups were in good condition and healthy, just Ice was so thin, I don't think they've been weaned that long and if she's anything to go by, they have been house pups, she's too used to things/noises and being handled to have been an outside kept pup. While I hope they rot in hell for what they did, at least they gave them a chance by putting them in the box to be found, they - or the bitch - hadn't neglected them up until then.

Lol, the terrier Maud was a rescue too, she chased a man on a bike once too often! Sorry you lost your girl.

i LOVE her! so cute! i think her ears might stand up as she gets older!

Lol, then she'll look like a Basenji, she's the right colour too!

The thing with animal welfare is every time you think 'Ah yes, now I've seen the lowest people can go' somebody always manages to go one better... not much surprises you, after a while :( So glad she's had a happy ending though and has found a nice home! She looks just lovely :):)

Its sad but nothing surprises me nowadays, but Ice has certainly landed on her feet. I've found since H qualified that vets spend a lot of their time taking in waifs and strays and bullying people to rehome them :) (Although I have resisted so far).

What a cutie and looks full of mischief, its lovely the other dogs have accepted her and hopefully she will help fill the hole your other dog left.

Why they were not just handed into a rescue with the" look what I just found" excuse is baffling but they were very lucky they had a goodish start.
