I personally only like them if they have four or none at all what do you think judges prefer?
i personally don't like them if they have one or three socks i think it detracts from there action and if they have two front/back it makes them look uneven - legs longer/shorter
Any opinions
4 White socks is more important to Welsh lovers than conformation IMO.
Generally, if it's morbidly obese, knees itself in the teeth when trotting, and is nuts, it will do well in the show ring. Lots of flashy white and a pretty colour is a bonus!
All of these things certainly seem to be more important than good conformation and a straight action! In a ridden class, behaviour and way of going under saddle are nearly irrelevant.
I've given up bothering to show my non-fat and nicely put together D even at local level, because I can't stand the judging!

I so agree with you on this!!! That's why I stick to dressage!!!
Re the blue-eyed white-faced gang here's my boy:

Both his eyes look like this
And his big white face looks like this:

Apparently, this is the Sabino gene pattern..white touching the eyes, blue eyes, belly splashes..very common in Welsh bloodlines...I'm told this would go against him in the ring, but as I have no intention of showing him, couldn't care less. I think he's stunning.
And here is my bigger boy with his tiny back two white ankle socks..same white markings as his famous gt gt grand sire, Nebo Black Magic:

Presumably this would make him more show-able than my other boy, but again, its really such a subjective world...nothing against anyone who wants to show but it all seems a bit nuts to me...FWIW, I was talking recently with a very well-renowned former Sec D breeder and now RW judge...he thought my boys were splendid but did say most judges would mark down the blue eyes, despite him having great confo, presence and hock action (his words)..he did agree that this was pretty mad, but the reality of how people judge..
Can I just say that for me if I passed your first boy in the field he wouldn't scream out to me he is Welsh whereas there's no mistaking what your bigger boy is. THAT is hugely important in showing. Both lovely BTW just one very more 'Welsh' than the other![]()

White socks are a must, but white on the face is a no no.
Well that's bombed our boy out...A straight bay with a star... Although he's getting 'blonder' between the legs, under belly and chest so maybe he'll grow a sock or four...

For myself... I seem to have an abundance of pink socks...![]()
Now Pink socks on your bay hmmm that could work !![]()
This little fellow is so cute but I would never buy him because i know that one black foot would bug me forever - i am a bit OCD.
