I'm trying to persuade my mum to approve of me buying a 3.5T horse box? However the only way I can do this is to take out the cash on a credit card (which I am then planning to transfer to 0% interest). I figure I'm never going to have that amount banging around in pure cash anyway, so this is the only way I'll ever get one!
So how did you buy yours?! Was it a horsebox or a trailer? And was it new or used?

Cash - but then mostly they've been under £1400 - that includes a 3.5 tonner, a 7.5 tonner and an aluminium Ifor Williams livestock trailer designed to fit 2 x 17.2.

As for getting the cash, I saved up until I could afford it.

Saved up for first lorry for about 2 years. Then sold it & put money from inheritance from grandma & the compensation from a nasty car accident together to but the second one.

its easy to end up in a spiral of debt , its too easy I know this from bitter experiance

, if you can save up and buy thats thebest ... yes I know you need one for this summers shows not in 2015 !!! just be carefull, better to borrow off parents or
buy something cheep and cheerful and trade up later I would be very carefull about credit card debt, a bank loan would be safer, good luck ...

I've already got debt, but my management of it all is good, so hence why I'm considering it, unfortunately I can't borrow off of anyone, and cards are much easier imo for me to pay! My other idea was to find a rich man?!?!

I'm a chicken and don't like taking risks on things I don't know anything about . . . . ie vehicles !!

As such, I bought my lorry as a new coachbuild from a reputable company, and bought both my previous and my current trailer from new.

Luckily we didn't need to use finance, but 0% is of course better than forking out on interest !!

I have been naughty in the past though and bought a horse or two on finance . . . . but don't tell my hubby that

I'm being left some money by my nan so hoping to buy a cheap and cheerful 3.5t with that. Not sure when that will be as all depends on the sale of her house. I was going to pay off my credit card debt with it (which is there from my horses vets v insurer issues), but figured I won't have that money again and so probably won't be in a position to ever get transport!

I'd be very careful about putting it on crdit. I manage my finances VERY carefully but absolutely loathe having debt in any form, and cannot wait to get rid of it.

i sold a laptop and my trailer to fund my lorry, it was already sat at the yard id moved on to, and ten i found it advertised. its an older box, so i played safe as it had been sat for a year, and had a local horsebox company come and give it a once over. i couldnt risk bying a money pit! and wanted to know it was sound.. it was!
