Not my pony but...What do you think of this tail? Is it a complete disaster or is it not to bad. They were going for the ' Pulled' look.

I wouldn't call that the 'pulled' look... I'd call it the shaved look
On the plus side it will grow back! And I'm guilty of pulling my mares mane so short it stands up like a mohican so I'm in no position to judge!

Well the ponies tail was looking quite good, it doesn't like having it pulled so I started to sort it out with a tail rake.
Child has no patience and before I had a chance to finish it (I was doing it over a few days) she went at it with scissors and a solo comb.
It actually look better now then it did after the child had finished with it

I know someone who used to clip their horse's tail and it looked a bit like this. We called it the "poodled" look!

Clippers were used
I play a guilty part in all this as I said clippers could be used on tails but I just didn't know how, I put the idea into their head

it should be shorter on the sides and longer in the middle!i can get mine to look pulled with scissors but has taken a few years of practice,everyone gets me to do their horses tails as its pain free and looks just as good!have seen a few cobs at local shows recently with shaved tails and it just looks wrong!!!

I think we have now come to the conclusion that the ponies tail looks cr@p but there is not much that can be done about it now. It is not going to affect the pony in any way so not sure why we need the 'poor pony' post but hey ho.
The tail will grow out with no lasting damage and lessons will have been learnt, it is not the end of the world!
The Tail does actually look better then it did after child hacked at it with scissors which I guess is what was trying to be achieved.
I must be evil as I actually find it quite funny
(I've deleted the picture from photobucket as I have the answer I wanted and as it is not my pony (or child!) I don't think it's fair to keep the photo up)
