How far away are your horses from where you live?

Have mine at home - most satisfying noise in the whole world is being tucked up in bed with the window ajar and hearing them happily munching.

Just down the drive, so around 2 minutes walk - very lucky!

Are you worried because yours are further away? I think you can make anything work if you put the effort in, and if the horse/s are your passion then why wouldn't you?

10 miles door to door and a 15-20 min drive. I moved there last year from a yard that was literally 2 minutes drive round the corner from home but don't regret it at all.
Before I drove, my oh got fed up taking me back and forth from yard (at that point about a 15 min drive away) so I took my CBT test and got a cheapy old Honda Vespa on finance. Cheap fuel, tax and insurance and gave me so much more freedom

I am blessed with being on same estate as my horse now in lovely quiet private area. Was offered a field opposite my house but would miss the yard too much and I think it's healthier for the particular horse I have currently to be in a yard set up. The sad thing is, although it's uphill on the way home, it's quicker to walk to my yard than drive!

If I walk from my house through the wood, then it's less than a mile as we cross fields etc, in the car about 2.5 miles! Madness!!!

In reality my garden is actually sufficient enough that the horse could spend some time there!!! But don't think the OH woukd be impressed!

He's about a mile away, at the other end of the village. 5 minute drive or 7 minute cycle.
We're just in the process of buying a place in the village with a little bit of land, so if we pull that off, he'll be coming back from time to time (this will be his retirement home, all things being well with him), so I will finally be able to look out of my window and see him. He will still be kept on livery until he retires though, as my yard is affordable, and I have some good friends and facilities there :)
