If you also keep your horse at a livery yard, roughly how far away from home is the yard? The yard where I keep my horse at the moment, will be closing down in a few months, so I have to find another livery yard. I was wondering on average how far other horse owners travel to get to their horses. Thanks :)

Mine is 5 mins away but I would be happy to travel 30mins for the right yard (if we moved I would stay at current yard as long as I was within 40mins tho coz it's special!)

Mine is a ten minute car journey so not far but still wish it was closer so I could walk there! Would travel further though if I had too!

30mins / 20 miles. It's only 1 mile out of my way if I'm working in the office though, so it's not too bad during the week. Had to compromise on location to find a yard with everything I wanted.

My arab is 8.7 miles away from home. Flame is about 2.5 miles out of my way doing two sides of a little triangle on the way home. :)

about a mile and a half, which I walk. Takes me approx 25 mins to get there. I prefer to walk as I'm trying to lose weight!

Next month it'll be about one minute walk a few hundred yards as my lovely OH has bought us a house specifically because it has a yard next door and our own paddock :D

Our big yard is 5 minutes walk away and the small one a 10 minute drive. Before we took over our yard last year and then moved closer to it we were travelling 5 miles but it took about 20 minutes because of the route we had to use.

15 minutes - have been at yards further than that but I find it less enjoyable when I'm having to factor in the extra travelling time etc.

20/25 mins from home 40/50mins from work :( i couldnt find anythihg decent closer- i was willing to compromise on my travel, but not my horse's turn out:rolleyes: its a lovely yard, im diy, but pay a lady to turn out for me every morning so im only making the trip once a day. Works for me.:)

Mine are about a 2 minute drive away but before that it was about a 50/60 minute drive away and pretty much all M25 I did that for 8 months after moving in with my now husband then sadly and reluctantly moved after pretty much all my redundancy money went on petrol. I couldn't be that far again though I love knowing that I am always so near to them and can happily and easily make multiple visits throughout the day.

Mine is a 20 minute walk away, though unfortunately it is mostly uphill, but to drive it is half that time. Unfortunately, I can't drive for another two years, so I have to walk most of the time, but it is good exercise! :D

10 steps outside my backdoor to the nearest paddock, I live on a boarding farm (livery yard - same thing)

Most of my owners live within a 20 minute drive, the closest is 3 minutes away. The furthest is 2141 miles away not quite on the other side of the country (according to Map Quest) :D

I live 11 miles away from the yard which depending on which way i go takes about 20 mins. There are lots of livery yards nearer home but my other choice was full and i didn't want to take him somewhere he wasn't going to be happy. He's on 7 day assisted livery so i only have to go up once a day.

10 mins away - DIY. I've been further away and hated it b/c the drivetime ate into my day - not to mention the diesel costs. Closest was 2 minutes (could walk if necessary) - that was wonderful :).
