How far would you travel?

Ive recently moved from a yard withing walking distance to one 20 mins drive away. Horse is sooo much happier, I am too but the drive is a bit of a pain tbh. I know this is nothing to some people but I suppose having had it on the doorstep for years, its been a bit of a wake up call.
 
I am now 6 miles from home, having been 10 before, and I rent land, so they really are DIY. I would go further if I had to if I wanted good facilites etc, and in the past have kept horses more than 30 mins from home.
 
I'm 7 miles from my yard - previous yards have been 10 miles away (full livery) and 2 miles away (assisted DIY) which was incredibly handy. My current yard is the nearest I have come to finding the perfect yard so I don't mind travelling a few extra miles to get there :) Im currently on pure DIY and I absolutely love it
 
Roughly ten minutes drive from home and also on the way home from work so i dont need to come home first (I get changed at work so im yard ready)

Mine are behind the house so its just a short walk

I would travel up to 15 miles I guess BUT it would need to be a yard that had a good back up support if I was unable to travel for some reason

We have sheep, goats and chickens but I wouldnt keep those elsewhere, they need to be in walking distance of home really
 
Mine is 20 miles/30 mins away :( I have to do assisted DIY as it's just too expensive in fuel and time to go twice a day. I'd love to have her closer but am struggling to find somewhere that ticks enough boxes :(
 
I would always pay more to have horse as close as I can. I just do not like having her far away from me, it just doesn't feel right. First yard was 4 mins, second was 3 mins this current one is about 8 mins. I will not drive further than 15 minutes and would have her on full livery if that was the compromise to having her close.... I have done the 25 minute drive there and back with another horse and I will never do it again. With a pressured job, 1.5hr daily commute it's just not another time sapper I am willing to put myself through....

What's the dilemma CG?

It takes me an hour and ten (if im lucky) to get too and from work (80something mile round trip a day) but my yard is on the way ... ten minutes from home. Im with you. I woouldnt be up for an extra 20 minute drive on top of that for sure :)
 
I'm currently on Part Livery at a yard 15 miles (25 minute drive) away. I would have him closer but the yards closer to me aren't as good and the hacking is rubbish compared to what I have at the moment.
 
All the yards near me have become so expensive. Trying to weigh up the costs of yards vs fuel money/time.

I currently drive 10-15 minutes and don't think I could do anything more than 20 minutes, unless it was on the way to work.
 
Mine used to be five miles away, now they're half a mile and all kept together (instead of riggy boy alone and esape artist laminitic also alone next door on bare paddock). I can't tell you how warm and fuzzy I feel to see them grazing or playing together instead of pacing the fence and looking forlornly at the herds over the fence.

I've got no stables, half my hay's sweating and hot, my fields are a bit soggy now and I've had to buy spare rugs just in case, but they're happy and healthy and I don't have to worry about getting to them if the weather's bad.
