how hard core horsey are you?!

AdorableAlice, if you've posted about this before, I'm sorry, I missed it. Hope you're soon in better health.
You are TRULY hard core!!
The best things about horses have nothing to do with riding anyway, at least IMO.

I am truly evil at the moment, not sure about hard core ! I have been told not to ride, even though I pleaded with them and my cob is reasonably safe. Doctor looked at me totally confuddled when i mentioned cob, as far as he is concerned a cob has ham on it !

I will be back on board by Christmas and to be fair I am now so sore that I am not comfortable even on my steady cob who does not pull. Getting off is the main problem. I am so irradiated I don't need hi viz, I glow in the dark by myself !

Spent the morning sorting the yard out and getting ready for the 'big storm' the news keeps telling us about, all horses strapped down, chickens tied to a brick each and the cat is tied to the chain harrows.

LADIES - no matter how hard core you all are and no matter how much we all joke about caring for our horses, please make sure you attend those pesky routine scans, you just never know what is around the corner. I am living proof and without that routine breast scan I would have been dead in 18 months. A sobering thought to say the least. There is nothing to the screening, a tad embarrassing maybe but all the staff are ladies. Don't ignore your call up letters.

em, I've been know to almost single handed look after my mare on box rest while completely non-weight bearing on one leg due to surgery (my mom helped with the wheelbarrow as simply couldn't do that but she's disabled so couldn'tdo much more) including lugging water.
I tend to be about the yard using a wheelchair following surgeries as is safer for me than on crutches where I can be knocked over but I have to be pretty bad before I stay away.

I have a brken foot at the moment (GP looked at it and pretty sure broken) - note to self don't let pony touch the electric fence while you're holding him!!
But I won't go for an xray because they'll put it in plaster (actually after 2 weeks it'll be an operation to rebreak then plaster!) but I have to much to do with kids and ponies so it'll just have to mend itself !!

Standard female/ mum/ horsey attitute I think

Please go get this sorted - you may heal ok for now but in 10 years time you're just asking for trouble and early onset arthritis.

You're absolutely right, that is what they've said but I really can't go in and have it rebroken then in a cast just yet, horses at home, 2 kids (one of which I'm breastfeeding) and an OH working shifts - I've said I'll go in the spring when daughter is weaned and animals easier to look after
I agree with AA above do get things checked and don't be too tough.

In that case get yourself on a joint supplement now and don't stop it. Sounds like you have a nice full plate. To help it heal faster just now also use a calcium supplement as this will provide what you need to build the bone.
