So this morning, aware of health and safety, I pop on my high viz tabard on and my high viz exercise sheet.

Halfway through my ride....i realise I forgot to put on my hat!

How is that even possible? I never ride without a hat.
Luckily was on my sensible horse and got home intact but duh!
I felt so embarrised when I met a car!
 
Ha ha have done that twice! Once was cantering through woods, jumping logs and ditches when twig caught in my hair...........whoops :o Walked quietly home ;)

Second time, hacking through village and elderly gent called out 'What a nice horse', just about to say thanks when he added 'shame picture ruined by hatless rider!' :D

Don't know how we do it, I call it one of my senile moments :rolleyes:
 
I did that once - hacked to a local show in the height of summer on a very warm sunny day only to realise once I arrived that I was wearing sunglasses rather than a riding hat.
 
I've done that when I've done things in the wrong order! So if for some reason I mount up somewhere different from usual, the "put hat on when approaching mounting block" step is missed, and hat stays by field gate :o

I've done it a few times when friends have pointed it out before I went more than a few steps... but I've also done it when I was on my own, and only noticed when I was trotting along some distance from home thinking "how lovely to feel the gentle breeze through my hair" :o:o
 
Yes also guilty of this.. But I wear a baseball cap. I was just coming back from a good gallop in my young pony when it hit me I was still in a cap not my hat. I got off and walked home. :-)
 
Nope wasn't wearing a hat at all! I only realised when the snow started setting on my head.. :o

Glad I'm not the only one! Feeling very old today haha someone emailed me earlier saying she used to keep her horses on my yard and I havn't got the foggiest clue who she is..I'm only 20!
 
I've been a bit naughty a couple of times this week as the temp has gone up to 30 ish and its been uncomfortable to have a hat on - so I haven't ! My excuse is I've only been walking as the boy has had swollen hind legs .

For some reason today automatically put my hat on - so glad I did my docile Mr Plod took great offence to the desert wind , bucked, farted and stood on his back legs turning 180 degrees at the same time ! I swear it took 15 mins for my heart rate to get back to normal.

But I stayed on - woohoo ! Didn't expect it - but the hat is now non negotiable
 
I've done it before, once did ride and lead off road with lots of cantering and galloping, didn't realise I'd forgot to put on a hat till I got home and went to take it off :o
 
I once went on a LOOOOONG hack wearing my silky black balaclava I wear under my hat. I'd spoken to people, waved thanks to drivers...finally caught a glimpse of my reflection in a window of the VILLAGE I was riding through, about 4 miles from home. I looked like a scuba diver or a ninja - in glasses. Then I had to ride home.....:o
