just out of interest coz i'm bored tonight! it took me 25 yrs!! my family are totally non-horsey, altho my aunt had a farm and my cousin grew up with ponies. my earliest memory of being on a horse was on her pony when i was about 4.
i got interested in horses about the age of 8, took 2 yrs to persuade my parents to let me ride. and that was only because they took our dog to training at a kennels with horses and they let me hve a ride there. i then had lessons every weekend for yrs, riding hols every year, then palled up with a friend at school who had 2 horses and spent every minute of my time with them and her. i went on to do 2 yrs at plumpton college after school, worked with them for a while, then after getting my own dog, went into dogs. (??!??).
still rode once a week, thought about buying the pony i rode but i had no transport at that time. then i had 9 yrs totally away from horses when i had my 2 kids. when i think back i cant believe i survived, but no car and no money forced it upon me. anyhow, got back into riding about 4 yrs ago, once my youngest started school. once a week wasnt enough so i started to look for a loan. shared an anglo arab for a few months, my eldest son started riding her too. then when she was moved too far away, i made the decision to buy. and that was just over 2 yrs ago. dream finally accomplished!!!! altho that wasnt without its hiccups, Ben is my second horse and now my forever horse.
