just out of interest coz i'm bored tonight! it took me 25 yrs!! my family are totally non-horsey, altho my aunt had a farm and my cousin grew up with ponies. my earliest memory of being on a horse was on her pony when i was about 4.

i got interested in horses about the age of 8, took 2 yrs to persuade my parents to let me ride. and that was only because they took our dog to training at a kennels with horses and they let me hve a ride there. i then had lessons every weekend for yrs, riding hols every year, then palled up with a friend at school who had 2 horses and spent every minute of my time with them and her. i went on to do 2 yrs at plumpton college after school, worked with them for a while, then after getting my own dog, went into dogs. (??!??).

still rode once a week, thought about buying the pony i rode but i had no transport at that time. then i had 9 yrs totally away from horses when i had my 2 kids. when i think back i cant believe i survived, but no car and no money forced it upon me. anyhow, got back into riding about 4 yrs ago, once my youngest started school. once a week wasnt enough so i started to look for a loan. shared an anglo arab for a few months, my eldest son started riding her too. then when she was moved too far away, i made the decision to buy. and that was just over 2 yrs ago. dream finally accomplished!!!! altho that wasnt without its hiccups, Ben is my second horse and now my forever horse.

I was interested in horses from a young age, started working at the riding school at 10 and got my first pony on full loan at 14, and bought my first horse just before my 15th birthday :D

7 years...got Cass when I was 17, 2nd pony Bandit when I was 18 and then current 3rd horse at 20 :)

However, did have the opportunity as a younger teen to have one, but I said no at the time.

30 years, then only by default, I have inherited my daughters 14.1. We got her as a mother daughter share originaly but there want much sharing going on until she moved onto horses

i was 15 :D

im now in my 20's and prefer it now as i pay for her and have 100% control of everything - where she lives.her tack etc... expensive but great :D

I was riding on and off since I was 4 but rode at a riding school from 11-16 yrs. I had to take a break due to starting my first job, which clashed with my riding lesson. My step mum had a horse so I would help with him during summer..so it wasn't much of a break from horses!

Loaned my first horse last year at the age of 20 and bought my first horse this year as a ''21st birthday present'' to myself haha! ;)

I'd been interested in horses from being a tot but my m&d banned me from riding as it's 'dangerous'. At highschool I used to get £1 dinner money - I used to get a packet of Nice biscuits on the way to school for 19p and that was my lunch for 2 days. I then saved the change which paid for a lesson once a fortnight. I did this from being 11. It took 3 bus journeys to get to the nearest stables too!

As soon as I left home I got a nutty TB on loan who taught me all I had been missing for all those years ;)

I worked my ass of for lots and lots of years and at 31 I bought a farmhouse with 4 and a half acres of land. I now have 2 youngsters and a 'projuct' mare that I am bringing back into work.

If you want it enough and are prepared to make lots of sacrifices then you will get the life you always wanted - just read my signature...

Ive always been interested in horses, my earliest memory of being on a horse was when i was about 5 years old.
I nagged my mum for years to do horse riding but it never happened :( did ice skating for 7 years instead, thats where i met my friend who owned loads of horses, became best friends and got to know her family :) then when i was 16 my mum had been secretly planning for me to get a horse :) (my mum and friends mum had agreed to share a field)
Did some horse hunting, got involved with time wasters, then found lady, And lived happily ever after :D

Had a pony when I was four, not for long at all though, about 2months as he was unsuitable.
Started going to a riding school when I was 8, stayed there until I was 12 when it closed down :( BUT I got my favourite pony on loan! I had him for a year until he went back- majorly outgrown!
Then I started riding two ponies for some people in the villlage, was there til I was nearly 15, horse hunting for 3 months and I finally got Red aged 15! My name is on his passport so I feel like a very lucky girl, have had him about 17months now and love him to bits :)

Started riding when I was around 6 though seriously got into it around 10/11 started helping out at the riding school aged 11/12 working there about 13 till 17 and got my first when I was 13 second about 3/4 months later after selling the first and bought my current one when I was 15 and sold second one just after.

I had my first horse or pony in this case at a young age. I started riding at about 7 on a pony owned by the livery yard, and the pony died about 2 years later from old age (aged 31!) I got a pony for christmas i think. It was a complete surprise and shock, i hadn't ridden in about 6 months and was begging to ride, went up to the yard one day and there was a grey pony with tinsel round his neck waiting for me :D It was an evil pony but i loved him.

I was 18 I think. I had to save up my pennies as my parents were (and still are) not horsey at all. He was a little dynamo who'd jump anything and everything and I could make leap on the spot (thought it was cool in those days!!!).

I've had everything over the years from fat hairies to lovely show horses, but my current boys are my faves. A big rescue fellow who would do anything for me, and a fun little 15h cob inherited from my dear late friend who passed away this year.

I started riding at 7, first loan pony few weeks later. My parents then bought me 6 different ponies between the ages of 8 and 15. I had a "brake" from ridding as parents split and couln't afford it. 10yrs on I went exmoor pony trekking one and bought a new pony a couple of months later!

Still working on it, slowly, slowly. Although I suspect that it won't happen until i've finished uni & got a decent job & salary, because my family just can't afford it.

I've ridden since I was 8, riding school for what, 5 years? Then I met a woman who had a horse that needed riding but could only ride when an instructor was there as he could be a little s**t when he wanted to be. And then finally, this June, I found a beautiful welsh B share pony, who I absolutely love to bits.

Wanted a horse since I started riding at 7 actually got my own at age of 21 having finished Uni. Part loaned at a riding school for 4 yrs before going to uni. Now owned my own for over 5 years :)

I started riding when I was 9 when my friend had her birthday party at a riding school and we all had a ride, I stayed on there until I was 14 I think. In that time I loaned my pony from the riding school, he taught me a lot. I had to stop loaning him and moved to a different RS and was given a horse to look after, but that didn't last long (2 weeks!!) and then went to ride my mum's friends horse, who I was meant to loan but I only ever saw her once!! I then had a few riding lessons, did my first year at Hadlow College and went for work experience on a racing yard and ended up staying there rather than going back to college for my second year. I loaned a friends pony for a while and finally got my own horse in March of this year, aged 17. I was given her, I wasn't looking for a horse and I didn't like her, so was going to sell her. Ethel is now my forever horse, and I won't ever be able to part with her, it was luck getting her, and many people tell me I was stupid to leave college without completing the course, but I was unhappy there, and if I had stayed, I wouldn't have my girly now. I don't regret leaving there at all :)

I waited 40 years and two months after I got first horse (a much-longed-for Arab), my husband walked out on me and I had no income whatsoever. The lovely lady who ran the very small livery yard gave me free livery for months so I could "sort myself out" financially (ex-husband never gave me a ha-penny in maintenance) . . . God bless her
