How long for you to settle on new yard

I’ve recently moved yard due to change of work location.

I hardly saw anyone on my old yard and it was very peaceful.

My new yard has more people (who are very nice) so it feels ‘busy’.

My horse seems happy although a little spooky due to the arena set up.

Everything is different (obviously) Some things are better and some are worse.

I’ve been there 2 weeks so not very long but I feel unsettled and wonder if I’ve done the right thing.

in your experience how long does it take to settle on a new livery yard?

Thanks

I've been at current place for over a year and I still feel like the newbie ;) (3 people arrived since I did!)
other than just needing time to settle in, is there something that is making you feel like it's not going to work longer term?
I left one place after 6 weeks because my horse just wasn't settling but generally it's been fine after a few months. I hate moving, it's awful, but there must have been something that made you pick this place over your old yard?

One yard I loved from the outset but my mare didn't and got quite difficult to handle. Current yard I felt like the newbie for ages, but the horses settled really quickly. I think that was because everyone else had been there forever - so lovely stable herd environment for the horses but I felt a bit like the odd one out for a while!

Also hate moving.

After I lost one horse I got another and took him to a different yard. Nice yard, lovely people no real issues however I couldn’t settle. I moved back to first yard after about 2 months.

Thanks for the replies, maybe I just need to give it more time. It’s a completely different environment so I’m probably not giving it a fair chance.

You haven't been there long, definitely give it more time.
For the record, I went from small DIY yard (10 liveries including myself) to a large Full Livery yard. My horse settled immediately but it took me a good year to feel at home there. Even now, I occasionally reminisce about my old DIY yard - I'm still in touch with a lot of the liveries and I miss the camaraderie which you don't seem to get on a full livery yard.:(

For me, my horse settles fairly quickly. I'm a bit more socially awkward and after 4 years I don't quite feel like the newbie! (Our yard has a massive turnover too so I'm probably one of the oldies in reality)

One thing I really miss with having mine at home is the ‘yard life’. It can be lonely on your own. When I was on yards though it always took me while to settle in, I’d just make the effort to stay for a little longer and chat to people while they mucked out etc. Pop my head over the stable and say hi. Just make a general effort with who was there at the time and it’ll come xx

I recently moved after the yard i had been on for 15 years was being sold. I moved to lovely little yard and my horse settled within 2 weeks and was great. Me, however, really struggled. I suffer anxiety and although the yard and people were lovely i felt out of place for ages!!! Then all of a sudden everything just clicked into place and i love it now. Ive been there 10 weeks and it was the best move i made and wish i had done it sooner now. Give it time and you will feel a difference, i never thought i would settle anywhere else but i have and made some nice new friends as well ?

Thank you for all the replies. I suppose it is very early days I just didn’t think I’d feel so unsettled. Will give it more time.
