Lari is my 7th, all owned between 1987 and now. Goldie 3 months. Biggles 2.10 yrs, Miki 11 months, Billy 2.6 years, Rommy 2.4 years, Bailey 17 years, Lari 9 weeks.

I was very unfortunate to lose Biggles, Miki, Billy and Rommy (all through no fault of my own) in such a short space of time, but that's horses for you and I know a friend who has had the same happen.

Lari is lovely but very problematic with his maintenance, something I was trying to steer away from.

Rosie technically was mum's but she's mine now so my whole life (we've grown up together - she is older by just under 2yrs).

I've had Archie 16 years and Charlie 16 months. I've known Monty (my old share horse and still my boy) 20 years.

ETA - It's only just occurred to me that Archie is the horse I've owned for the longest time. I had Eb 14 years before I lost him. Maybe it was because I was so much younger but it seems a lot longer than the 16 years I've had Archie and I always thought of Eb as my long termer. Arch is potentially the oldest horse I've had too. His passport (from the days before microchipping) says he's 25 but both vet and dentist think two or three years older. Eb was 6 weeks short of his 27th birthday (and 3 days short of mine) when I lost him. Archie's passport was issued when he was 9 only a few weeks before I bought him (when the requirement for a passport to sell was introduced). The price difference between a 9yr old and 12 year old would be quite considerable while the differences in teeth at those ages are minimal so I can see why someone would take a few years off.

Four of the ponies since my children were tiny... about 20 years.
Most recent arrived about 3 years ago.

'Owned' is not quite right. Still one of those original four actually belongs to someone else and is supposed to be on long term loan. :D

Current horses - grey Connie 14 years, he is now 17.
- buckskin Connie 5 years, he is now 8
- buckskin TB X Connie 2 years, he is now 6

Of the numerous horses I have owned previously, I had them between 2 and 10 years. Except for the pony my family bought as a yearling who stayed with us her entire life and was PTS aged 38, so 37 years!!!!!

Most of my horses have been homebred. Longest I have owned was 29 yrs, I was there at her birth and death. Lost another two homebreds at 23 yrs and one bought in 18 month old pony also at 23. My sister lost the pony she bought as a 4 yr old at 30 and her mare bought as a yearling at either 32 or 34, can never remember which. Too many others to work out.

I've owned my horse for 11 years. Previous to buying him I had owned a mare for about 6 years although I'd known her since birth and had backed her myself.

Fabulous old boy owned for 10 years. He'd had a bit of a ramshackle life before I bought him. He's going nowhere and will be buried on our land.
