How long per day do you spend with your horse(s)?

Just interested really- was questioning why I spend any time with horses at all, as I was cycling through the fog at 7am this morning, up a hill, to go and muck out ;)
In 'spending time with', I'm including mucking out/poo picking, feeding, exercising, grooming, turning out/bringing in..basically any time spent doing something with/for your horse :p Talking an average day too, as i know obviously weekends, competition days, days off work etc could be a different story. :)

My OH would say far too much lol :D
in summer visit twice a day to feed once and to ride, feed, groom, clean tack(if im being really good!)and skip out stable, which probably adds up to about 3-4 hours a day.YO skips out fields
in winter probably a lot more, as muck out full bed put pony out in morning( field 10min walk to get there and ten back) then back at night to bring in and groom ride feed and put pjs on! so around 5 hours. i faff alot though lol :L

Won't let me edit above post- just to say sorry the poll is a bit 'clunky', I didn't really plan the options very well!
And also it will be very different obviously depending on whether your horse is on full livery, DIY, at home..etc :)

I've put 2-4 hrs although it depends on the weather!! Usually 30 mins in the morning before work, then a good 2 hrs in the evening or more if I go for a long hack after work. If it's gloomy and wet, then I shoot home asap :p

different story on the weekend as I'll usually be there all day :)

Anything from 2 hours to all day depends if I'm working night shifts. Sometimes we get all are jobs done sit on the grass drink tea eat biscuits and watch the horses, which can take hours lol

Far too long! In reality a couple of hours during the week but time somehow seems to drift rapidly in the company of equines. Even after mucking out, nets, grooming and exercising there are always so many more jobs to do. My OH has learned to always add at least half an hour on to my ETA back home. My stable is far tidier than my house!!

If i ride them it would be about 4 hrs, but on the days i dont ride i dont spend too long with them, just turn out in the morning and muck out, then bring in, groom and feed in the evening so probably only about 1-2 hrs!!

well i only share a few days a week, but i like to spend as much time as i can there. I usually spend at least 3 hours, up to 5. There's 4/5 horses to play with though, and lots of lovely long hacks. When i had shares whilst at school/ college years ago it would still be about 4 hours after school :)

The horses are in my back garden

Time with each varies, I ride or lunge Lady and Zeus, longrein Pegs twice around the track (a mile is enough for me) brush all the others, and will do some sort of inhand/trailer work with the youngsters.

I spend most time at the moment with the mare and foal as they are the only ones stabled and I play about with the colt, haltering, leading, legs and grooming at least twice a day.

The Boarders (4 right now) all get fed, checked and brushed over too.

It all depends what other jobs need doing about the place as to how long I have. I am sorting out the sand arena right now and moving topsoil off an acre, levelling, harrowing etc is keeping me pretty busy.

Weather is a factor too.

I live in the same field as my horse so I would have to say 90% of the time (they are fenced in a separate area). It's lovely to see their true natures and silly things they get up to that you wouldn't normally see!
Also you can really sympathise with them in the Winter!:D

Right now: between 1 and 1.5 hours per horse, including grooming, tacking up and riding.

Then I go again in the afternoon to turn them out and in the evening to bring them in.

Depending on paddock availability some days I turn them out immediately after riding, so it saves me one trip to the yard (not that I mind as it's walking distance anyway)

It depends, in term time, in the summer probably 2 hours a day, to poo pick and feed, ride or groom mine and same for my daughters little pony.Weekends and School hols much longer - 5 1/2 hours today for example, but can quite easily spend the whole day there faffing about, plus my best friend is there so our kids play, we have a picnic lunch and play with the children as well as riding and doing the yard work. My husband gets a bit annoyed but he has started coming with us now as he has realised it's the only way he is going to see us!

About 2-4 hours on an evening, but then I get chatting to the people up at the yard which usually makes my time longer :D

But I enjoy the time spent up there, I could groom her for hours.

Not as long as I like. I do not have much time what with full time work and night school, plus revising for exams, but once that's finished with in 8weeks time (woop :D) I will be spending more time with her again, like I used to. During the week, some days I will only see her for half hour in that day, two quick trips. If I ride in the week or at the weekend, its longer, it can be anything from 2hours to 5 hours.
I am looking forward to spending some more quality time with her once my studies are done with, I am counting down the days! :D

During the week I spend at least an hour a day with her between finishing work and picking youngest up from school. Although this week he starts 2 new after school clubs so that increases my horsey time :D

Weekends are a different story though and I can easily spend 4 hours there doing not much at all :p :D

Mine's a bit different because I work where my horse is. I arrive between 6.30 and 7.30am depending if I'm riding before work, and I'm usually there til 7 or 8pm so about 13 hours . (In case anyone's wondering no I don't have a life! I get up, go to yard, work, go home and straight to bed )

Well now Dee is at a nice yard where there is lots of lovely people about it generally takes me longer to sort her out as there is now necessary gossip to catch up on and chatting to be done :p Also there is amazing hacking so riding also takes alot longer than when she was at the previous yard. And I love just being at the yard giving her cuddles coz shes my total babe!
