How many days a week do you exercise your horses??

All of mine get a day off. Especially as they are youngsters, i feel this is needed and usually (though not always!) deserved!

Bodey- between 4 and 6 days, so yes always has at least one day off.

Badger- between 2 and 6 days (6 when Mum is riding but she only plods so he hardly works).

5-6days

Even on his day off though he tends to go on the walker.

Only if I am too busy to ride....the way I look at it is that 'days' are a human construction- I don't think they have an appreciation of what it is to have a day off! I only ask him to work one hour out of every 24 anyway so he can jolly well do that- I have to work 8 out of 24 to keep the damn thing

Mine gets regular days off after 3-5 days of work in a row. She is only in light work due to her back issues and needs days off for this reason. As I am pregnant now the work is either ridden in the school or on the lunge or double lunge. I like to do this combination in normal times too though for her back and then we get out on hacks at the weekends (this is not allowed at the mo ...);

if were competing, wilma gets the monday off
if we havent competed then she occassionally gets monday off

she is schooled 5/6 times a week for an hour + (includes one pole work session and one jumping session)
hacked out once/twice a week
competed most weekends

however in summer she will be ridden in the morning and put on the walker in the afternoon

today i didnt want to ride so she was put on the walker, and whenever this happens she will go on the walker

My girly is mostly ridden everyday - although a variation of hacking, flatwork, showjumping, lunging and track work.... she does however have a lighter day once a week where she just has a slow wonder and a little trot - and i ask very little from her. I only give her a day off if the weather is really bad or i really struggle for time - but she loves her work and enjoys going out and pleasing me! And she is better being ridden everyday!

Mine only gets a day off after I consider her to have worked hard.

So, after a show, after cantering/jumping on hard ground, or after a particularly strenuous schooling session.

The rest of the time she is worked every day. She has arthritis so needs regular work; once or twice a week she'll just go on a walking hack for 45 minutes or so, I consider that a day off for her.

3 - 4 times a week. Shameful I know but he lives out and at the moment I am working hard for a promotion. Hopefully in 2 weeks time I shall be able to ride much much more!

Gets one day off a week and that is more to give me a break from the rush it is in the weekday cramming a ride in before work! In the autumn and winter months he is only ridden at weekends due to dark nights, mornings and me only having roads to ride on.

Mine is exercised most of the week. But an exception was last few days he has had them off as he was sweating in the field so didnt think it was a good idea to ride. Just hosed him down instead.

If I am going to a show will get the day after off and just spent playing in the field.

Charlie is ridden about 5 times a week, 1 schooling session, 1 jumping session and 3 hacking. Usually between 45mins and 1 1/2 hours a time. During school holidays he may ridden for up to 4 hours at a time.

Millie gets ridden between 2-4 times a week, and lunged about twice.

Both get at least one day off a week.

Stylo is generally ridden for a week - week and a half at a time then has 3-6 days off, having a block of work and a block of holiday suites him better than on and off during a week.

Ralph is generally exercised 5-6 times a week, this includes 2 lessons a week, hacking and lunging. I'm just getting US fit for competing in July as I had 18 months off. So, its beasting for both of us

2-5 days a week depending on who's around etc. I don't ride on my own as my ponio is just about 4 and can be a little unpredictable so if no-one will come to the yard with me or no-one at the yard has the time to come up the field with me then I don't get to ride.

Ooh you lucky people being able to ride nearly every day!

I used to ride Saffron (my Welsh Cob) only at weekends until recently, then I noticed she was getting fat, so we've upped it to around 3 - 4 days a week for 25 minutes each - I'm starting her gently to get her on the road to fitness. We hack out at weekends (around 1- 1 1/2 hours) - however this isn't always the case I every other weekend I'm at my boyfriend's (50 miles away

)

It's hard work, but I'm enjoying it. Saf really enjoys her work, you can kinda tell, she's a real 'people-horse'. Cheekily my sister has asked me to ride her pony as well, I think I'll be dead if I try doing them both after work!
