How many of us have horsey OH's?

Do you feed all the horses on the yard at the same time?

Just wondering really, how many of you have partners that also ride ...or drive etc and share a passion for horses?

Do you compete together? or go for romantic hacks in the countryside?

Or does any sentence with the word horse in it make them roll there eyes and fall to sleep, only thing they know about horses is they cost money and have four legs, a tail and neigh!

OH is not horsey at all, but the times I have been injured and needed help with J, he has been there and fed, groomed and generally cared for him.

J is a sensible horse and OH has had enough practice by now and is very competant.

I can't answer with a straight "yes" or "no" because OH has ridden a little and would like his own horse at some point but he's perfectly happy to just help me with my pony at the moment. He will catch her, groom, change rugs, tack up etc and he is also very useful as my pair of eyes on the ground because he seems to spot what I am doing wrong even when I am not sure why things aren't working! He also tows the trailer because I am too scared to do it myself so I couldn't manage without him.

OH Loves our ponies, but only rides a couple of times a year, he goes sailing, so its nice to have time to do our own thing; we work together and have been married 27 years, so time apart is essential!!!

My OH is a stressage diva

I met my husband on a horsey dating website!! (Lovehorse)
Met in 2005 got married last year!

It was absolutely brilliant to meet someone with the same interests as me. He had just got back into horses after a break of nearly 15 years but I even managed to get him to go an do a PN on my horse.....Fairly ground breaking as he was a show jumper through and through (Ex North East Junior Champion!!)
We have bred our first 2 foals this year and we are hopefully setting up a livery / stud over the next year, to run along side his mixed livestock farm. So all in all its worked out fantastically for both of us!!
I have lost count of the number of times I got accused by exes of being up to no good because they thought I was spending too long at the yard and I couldn't possibly be doing the horse for that long!!

Well I voted no, he does occationally come up to watch me ride (for about 5 minutes!) and does ask about my horse, he does know a lot about them, feed/rugs/grooming/tack etc in general (he has learnt something in 12 years!) but he'll only go as far as stroke my new horse, he got more nervous around them that what he used to be...so he takes an interest because he knows its my passion, but thats about it.

My OH was not in the least bit horsey- nearest he had ever been to a horse was a police horse at a football match.....then he fell in love with my friends horse who was stabled next to my horses.....when she was up for sale cos my frind couldnt manage the time, he started looking after her, then he bought her, has learned to ride and we hack out /muck out as a family...he draws the line at showing though- he will come and watch daughter and me, along with our completely non-horsey son who thinks dad has been taken over by aliens!!

My OH is more horsey than me :O She has her own horse on loan, and theres me riding at a riding school

. Hey ho. If you cant beat them, join them?

I think it is handy have a horsey OH, as your able to chat about the horses, whereas with my parents, as soon as I mention the word "horse" they immediately ignore me and eventually moan because thats all I talk about.

My OH is horsey inside I am sure of it he just won't admit it

I flicked the Olympics on at his and his mates asked what it was and he was the one to pipe up explaining it was dressage and part of the 3 day eventing etc.

he hasn't even watched much dressage!
He also likes to take Stylo off me and wander around with him, I am sure they are only talking about how silly I am but even so!

My OH is not horsey at all he will roll his eyes when i mention them. He tried it for 2 weeks with me and didn't enjoy it and doesn't understand why we ride them. The only thing he is interested in is something with an engine. He moans occasionally but i just tell him to except it and he does. He will help me if i ask and i always get him to push the wheelbarrow. LOL

Mine is horsey in the fact he used to ride, had his own horse, hunted, dressaged, was working although not competing at medium and jumped upto about 3 years ago. Then he rediscovered motorbikes!! He isn't really interested now, although he would come and watch me compete and occasionally to horsey events. It was funny watching the olympic eventing dressage with him explaining the difference in aids between half pass and leg yield and commenting on the shoulder in not being on 3 tracks. Sometimes I forget how much he acutally knows. I ended up asking to come and school my horse but he declined.
Horsey OH can be a double edged sword cos you can end up with two horses to look after, and he knows exactly how much horse stuff costs so no pretending something was cheap

My OH wrinkles his nose up when I come in.

He services my trailer and he gets fed up taking me to casualty!

He does come to Badminton on the Friday evening to walk the XC because its a walk and then we all go to Pub. Thats about as horsey as he gets.

But on the other hand he has not said oh no your not going to get another horse are you. He hasnt got any jealous bones.

My OH got interested because I loved them and had ridden all my life although I'd never owned one. He started lessons a few years ago and loved it (sporty + animal lover = perfect). Then it was him that suggested we got our first over a year ago. We now have two and are down at the yard until 9 every night and have lovely hacks out every weekend. If it wasn't for him I'd never have owned (and even if I had then we'd be divorced by now as I'd never see him !), so thank you P ! (he even comes on here).

I was a sj groom on a yard here in Italy and 'did' my oh's horses before he became my oh

.After 20 years we now have our own yard, I have the 'oldies' and he has his little truck for two...nuf said

i was with my ex for 6 years and we were both committed to our boy. im with someone else now and after 7months have finally got her on board - twice for 15minutes each time. she really struggles to understand my love for horses and the need to ride etc but she is getting there. makes it hard, didnt realise what a difference it made being with someone who loved my horses as mych as i did. yes we used to hack together and do everything at the yard together.

Yes my OH is horsey but hes much happier to stay on the ground and do the yardwork and groundwork with the horses - which is good for me because i'd much rather ride!

I was a non horsey OH but have come over to the dark side. After driving wife and kids around, lugging hay bales etc for ages I'm now looking for a horse of my own to hack out and do the local show. Had a family ride yesterday with friends, it was great the lot of us belting along a track togher.

As an aside, why does everyone assume that because I am a novice I'll only want a buy a plod? Pretty nearly every 'suitable for novice' that I've seen has been far too slow (except one who was a nutter).
