Having just ordered my first bag of linseed,i wonder how many of us have done so recentley due to HHO,im sure the company are enjoying the increase in sales which is great in this current climate!.x

Hi, I was feeding linseed oil but read on here that micronised linseed was better. I asked my local feed merchant and they ordered some from Charnwood. It cost me about £1 more than direct from Charnwood but there was no postage charge so really it was much cheaper.

I get my local pet shop to order it in and collect from there, much cheaper than paying Charnwood to deliver!!

Me and my mother have just ordered some bags of the micronised linseed!arrives tomorrow, hoping to see a big improvement with my horses footiness over stones with their new diet!

Micronised..but have a question..no destructions on the sack..What would you be looking to feed a 26yo 16.2 veteran tb on to maintain condition...and how much to gain?Linseed portion I mean..not the rest of the diet!Everyone seems to say cupful or 2..so have started off gradually & she's on a mug a day split between feeds..but can't see the mega improvement that I did with Omega Rice(Falcon Feeds)..that was obvious after 7 days which seemed too good to be true(mid jan 2012) I've bought this linseed from charnwood milling so good quality micronised.....any suggestions?

Me too I think its really good.

SaharaS I think it is supposed to be two mugs over two feeds a day, so maybe try that and add a little bit more if still not working, although I'd probably add something else as well rather than go up to two mugs in each :-)

I bought my first bag about a month ago. Still have loads left!

I feed just over a mug to my relatively poor doer and my good doer gets 1 mug spread between 2 meals

SS, i too brought some charnwood stuff, when i looked yesterday there is an idea of quantity to feed on their website, it states around 200gm for a 16hTB, however i have tried feeding it to my 29 year old mare and added it very slowly, about an egg cup amount on day one and up to 150gm by end of 10 day period, sadly its given her the runs something terrible :( so i'm going to have to stop it. i too had hoped it would put / keep condition on but i'm now going to have to look for something else for her :(

Another new linseed user here, well I've overhauled her whole diet actually. I couldn't be happier with the results as I've had to lengthen the surcingles on every single rug I own, I just love seeing her with a round belly :) And her coat is usually glossy but now it feels so soft too, almost like its been shampooed.

All down to things I've read on here!

am doing my best to try to find someone who will deliverto the isle of wight, charnwood dont unfortunatly and both the feed merchants on island wont order in as no call for it they say. i looked a efeed but delivery makes it over £35 a bag.

Thank you v much!..I've already got her on alpha a oil, grassnuts & sugar beet (soaked) calm & condition, apple cider vinegar, benevit advanced & linseed..I'm pretty ok with how she is now, but she usually drops off around clock change time(its usually colder by now!) so am trying to beat her to it..had a nutritionalist check her diet & she said stay on what she is..just up the levels, but I'm trying to give her as much as she needs, but as little as I have to, to try & keep to the little & often thing..I'll work up to 2 cups & if that doesn't help, I'll go back on the rice bran..that is awesome!

Sorry to hear it didn't work for her..honestly try falcon feeds Omega Rice, I can't recommend it enough..only tried the linseed after thinking it would cost the same to keep 4 'topped up'..the omega rice is 20kg for £22 is, 26 with postage unless you are in sussex & can collect.. the blurb is all on their site & its very good for sensitive tums too..hope you find something that suits her xx

Try SPR in Fontwell, nr Chichester(w.Sussex)..they might do it..and are very reasonable, and will try their hardest to get things & do ship reasonably too

thanks loads will contact in morning.

just found the link..www.sprcentre.com you will find shipping rates on there, link on home page, they do chanel islands, so I'm sure you'll be no bother! Jennine is very helpful & been there for years & she uses it too so good if you stuck on something. Might work out cheaper if you order a few things postage wise. I am over 120 miles from them now, but when I visit mum, I stock up, even the extra fuel from the weight & it still doesn't top the local prices here!x

Also been usingit for years, but more as a supplement than a real feed. Ive upped the levels quite a bit recently, and a sack still lasts my 3 over a month, so very good value

I bought a bag from Charnwood due to the posts on HHO.

Only started feeding it yesterday so will wait and see what happens and whether it does benefit my boy.

Agree that a discount should be given as Charnwood must be getting masses of orders now!!
