how many of you have given in

Not yet - one has a mediumweight on, the other three are still nekkid :D All have their own coats as I have no need to clip, and one is a foal anyway. Think things may change soon though, I can see snow on the nearby mountains although *touches wood* it hasn't QUITE reached us yet...

One is naked, very hairy cob, 1 has light-weight and fully clipped, the other is clipped and has her medium weight on, but she is only part-clipped and it's almost grown out already!

It's rarely below freezing here and my two oldies are still out 24/7. Neither are clipped and the Welsh is naked. For the first time this morning though Flynn felt a little chilly so he has been changed from his medium lite to his medium. He likes to be quite hot under his rug so that should make the difference. I've also started leaving haylage morning and night to combat the frost as well as keep their warmth up.

My two big bays though, both hunter clipped, are still in their medium lites and won't change again until there is a significant change in temperature.

The two Welshies are unclipped, naked and stabled at night.

Guilty! I gave in this morning. I went down the field and could barely feel my face or hands. But he had ripped the lining of his rug and his mw now needs some some diy repairs! IN my defence (lol) horses have absolutly no shelter and its in a very open flat rural area.

Nope, happy in a mw 1/2 neck (and we have LOTS of snow :D )

I was trying to be tough and not break out the HW till it was below freezing but the lad who brought my mare in yesterday said she was cold (and I admit I'm rubbish at deciding what rug to put on) so she was out in her HW today.

Mine are both fully clipped except legs and head but are starting to get a little hairy! They are both still in MW! I need to clip them again next week but they will still be in MW unless we have mega freezing conditions like this time last year! Mine only tend to wear their HW for a few weeks each year but they are both good doers and don't feel the cold too much!

Think mine is a 'hot' blood rather than a 'warm' blood, he was absolutely fine out for a while yesterday naked - he loves to roll in the snow!

:D

Gave in this afternoon. Had been for a lovely sunny hack, but the wind was biting. She still had ice in her water bucket, so couldn't turn her back out in her MW so broke out the HW. She did look cosy munching on her hay when I left :D

Mine has a M/W rug for night and day, clip is now well grown out but when I clip again on Friday, what rug he uses depends on the temperature

Mines got a l/w with m/w on top. He came in yday feeling a bit cold in just the m/w, and I am desperately trying to keep weight on him, so l/w went on as well! Could do with an under fleece instead really...

OMG no! If I put a hw on now what on earth is she going to do when its actually cold!? Shes got 100 grams of fill under her optimo cover.

Tis dropping to -2 ish over night, the odd shower as well according to my rain butt but I feed so that everything she gets is doing something and shes got adlib forage.

Please everyone on here dont forget that you can give a horse severe vit D deficiency by over rugging - rugging too earlier and them being left on till late the next year. If they have access to shelter during the day every horse can cope with them off!!!!

Mine's a poor doer who drops off incredibly quick [and already has] and currently is on a very windy exposed field and needs his heavy rugs on. When it gets colder, he will simply have another layer added. He's due to come in now for winter anyway...it's only been delayed as we've had building work going on.

My other horse however has no rug on.

Ying and yang.

No but I would like to use one...

I am currently searching for a h/w stable with neck and t/o with neck 2nd hand ones... this close to xmas!!

My lad is fully clipped and wearing his m/w t/o with neck at night too with fleece cooler underneath as he seems to stay warmer that way.

no, ive broke a couple of LW/MW out this weekend for some of the horses, the others are not rugged yet (or some wont be at all)

Charlie is fully clipped except head and legs and is still toasty warm in a medium full neck rugs. Reluctant to put any heavy weights on until we start to freeze.
