How many ride in a "snaffle"?

mmmmmm plain simple snaffle - gets tongue over sometimes but just cavesson noseband and shes happy :) mmmmm just goes like dream for daughter - just a dream thanks sweetheart x x

Yep, youngster is in a Sprenger kk ultra snaffle :) With my horses iv only ever used snaffles, thats all they ever needed.

Loose ring single jointed snaffle and cavesson noseband.

Used to use a KK Ultra, but she started putting her tongue over the bit so went back to plain old snaffle.

Yup me. Loose ring french link. One of the pinchless bits. He's had his tongue over the bit a couple of times recently though so might try something else. Bit of a bugger since he'd seemed so settled in his mouth too

I have a small yard and everything is in a snaffle of various types, apart from 1 eventer that goes XC in a wilkie. Not much use of martingales either.

Loose ring myler comfort snaffle - had to send someone to america to get it in the right size as apparently they dont sell the loose ring one over here anymore but it's worth it as I love it!!

(Didn't actually send someone, that's a lie, my instructor was going over there to run a clinic so got him to bring me one back! :D)

xx

My daughter's mare came in a Pelham but is now in a copper roller jointed snaffle and goes beautifully in it. My mare has always been in a snaffle and I alternate between a myler hanging and a French link egg butt.

Loose-ring, french link snaffle here - no flash, no bit guards.

When my trainer jumps him (I don't leave the ground any more) he goes in a waterford - just to get him to sit up back on his hocks and not try and "steeplechase" the fences - but he goes perfectly well over jumps in a snaffle too.

All of mine go beautifully in snaffles. 3 in a jointed full cheek with a specially thickened mouthpiece. One in a french link full cheek, 2 in plain eggbuts, one in a french link eggbut and one in a NS loose ring. Most of these guys are schooled to pelhams aswell for the show ring. Some of them are just young and learning so haven't got to that stage yet. All are ridden in cavesson nosebands aswell.

Full cheek, French link Happy Mouth snafflefor Ari usually (alternated with Dr Cook for hacking and a Pelham when he needs to pay attention in the school).

2 out of 3 are in loose ring french link snaffles.

The other is in a french link hanging cheek snaffle as he goes so much nicer in it.

So many TYPES of snaffles... Ellie went in a waterford snaffle (that is a pretty serious stopping bit, as she was like a rocket XC/ SJ.) My old horse went in a copper roller (yeah, that's also pretty strong for stopping...).

Reg is in a happy mouth french link loose ring snaffle. He is in a snaffle in the sense that you could say he's 'snaffle mouthed'.

It's so nice to hear so many horses being ridden in snaffle :) My TB is in a happy mouth straight bar loose ring, as is my first pony, 1 old mare was in a rubber straight bar loose ring, and the other old mare was in an eggbut. Big horse was in auragone snaffle loose ring for flatwork and happy mouth jointed 4 ring for xc or hunting with 2 reins, so only affected when needed, and the new loan horse came in a jointed 4 ring, but going to have a play around and get him in a snaffle too also. All are caverson noseband minus the big one who is flashed, and not a martingale between them ;)

My boys are both in Myler snaffles....My WB in the Loose Ring and my Welsh Sec D in the Eggbutt. I've just recently bought the NS Verbindend to try on the WB for Dressage though as heard great things about it.
