How many times do you wear your breeches/jodhpurs?

2-4 times, depends as above. If I have just ridden and not mucked out in them they aren't going to be dirty or smelly. But if used for mucking out as well then they will go in the wash.

Always wash competition and best straight away.

Wash intervals vary. If jods are smart ones they are only worn once. Working ones once or twice. I have about a dozen pairs of jods of varying colours for all occasions some of which are about 15 years old! I hate buying them as so few fit well so I usually alter them and then am reluctant to bin them until they are pretty much falling apart!
I wear old trackie bottoms or similar for all dirty jobs.

I'm in the "minger' camp, I change mine maybe once a week or so. They never get smelly, and although I'll muck out in them, I don't wear them all day, I change once I get home from the yard. I think we can get a little obsessed over washing clothes.

Agreed. Regular everyday yard clothes are inevitably going to be a bit muddy and hairy - it's part of owning horses!

When they look dirty or smell of anything but leather balm or I have a Maggie62 accident (see post 16 :) ). I don't muck out wet stuff and I wear them for a morning, ride one or two, come in and shower and change. They go in above the water cylinder to dry each day, so they don't small musty due to damp.

I've got six pairs of decathlon black cotton £12 ones.

I love that the majority of us do exactly the same- we are definitely a separate breed of human, us horse lot!

I have a few favourite pairs of breeches and I always push their wearing for a few more days. I have a pair of breeches that feel like jogging pants- so comfy and warm in winter. I've been known to stretch a week out of them.

crikey! Id only wear mine a 2nd day if Id not actually ridden or mucked out - and then it would be if I was actually going to ride/muck out and come in and then stick them in the wash basket. Don’t any of you sweat when you ride, maybe Im very unfit :o

once at the min as bucket feeding calves also at min, so today I rode out with rather soggy jodphurs! normal people smell of Jo Malone, me odour horse poop and calf milk LOL

I ride 2/3 most days, and generally sweat buckets on at least one of them (if you're not dripping, you're not pushing yourself hard enough :p ). I just have low standards, and a limited ability to care about these things around horses.

Once they get too muddy/niffy. I have a pair of kipwarm breeches that I bought last year and I'm worried they will lose some of the rubbery, waterproof stuff if I wash them, so....:o

In my defence, I do wipe them over with a damp sponge :D

That may have been used for washing off a hairy hoss

When they can walk to the wash basket themselves or the husband doesnt let me through the door because of the smell! Competition ones are washed after every use.

2 or 3 times but I literally just ride in mine most of the time I tend to wear jeans to muck out in and wear around the yard.
This. I've got a horse on straw so I muck out in my work stuff and change into jods to ride. So I'm only in them for a few hours and with no stable jobs done they don't really get dirty.

Probably put them in the wash every three weeks or so but I only wear them to ride and wear jogging bottoms for all yard work. I keep the horses at home so it is easy for me to change when I have finished doing the yard.

They're fine to wash Mine are going into their third winter and they mostly get washed after each time I've ridden in them - they still seem just as waterproof. To be fair, the main reason they get washed each time is because I don't have my own horse and normally ride once a fortnight, so I wouldn't want them hanging around dirty for that long. On the odd occasion where I'm riding on two or three consecutive days they get worn again before washing.

After each wear. Hate putting dirty clothes back on. Jeans I will wear a couple of times but mostly everything else is one wear than wash.

People wear jods/breeches to ride in at the yard still ... I wear skinny jeans as they fit under chaps beautifully and make a nicer shape of my excessive thighs than jods do lol!

How come folk get sweaty jodhs? My top half can get very sweaty, but not my legs. Am I missing something?

I'll wear jodhs for several days, but I only wear them for riding. I pop them on top of my saddle to air out.

yes haha - its not legs that are the issue with sweating ;)... and even without sweating, let’s face it , jodhs are *ahem* tight fitting?? surely you would want to wash a tight fitting item of clothing regularly?

Thanks for the info. I'll chuck them in with the next load - if I can catch them....

Anywhere from 2 or 3 times to all week depending on if they actually look dirty / how many times I've actually ridden than week (as if not then I've literally only had them on a couple of hrs if it's a work day). They tend to get changed more often in the Summer when they get sweaty and minging looking quicker and it's normally the softshell ones that tend to get worn all week as the muck just wipes off them anyway

I wear them twice then wash, but my horses live out, I'm not riding at the moment, and if any of them are in for any reason, my dad tends to volunteer to do the mucking out for me, so I don't have any of the smelly, sweaty jobs! In general, that means they're only worn for around three hours at a time before they're cleaned.

Oh I see :D. This is a personal hygiene issue?

Even after a few days wear riding, my jodhs will only pick up a mild aroma of saddle soap and warm horse (a rather pleasant combination). The lack of 'other' aromas could be a consequence of my daily bathing and my sturdy M&S knickers, maybe?
