How many times have you clipped your horse so far since september?

One of our horses is clipped 3/4 times through the winter & the other one is clipped just once & that lasts him until the spring. Theonw who has one clip is the first from the left, the horse that qwill need atleast 3 clips is third from the left.

My friends cob and ISH clips grow back very slowly, but she really rugs them up.. all my horses always seem to grow back in a few weeks but feel warm enough to me.

No there isn't and a 'well rugged horse' will often be a too hot horse. The coat growth is governed by daylight hours. If you want to slow the winter coat you will need to leave the lights on in the stables. That is how horses are in full summer coat at Hoys in October. Likewise, if you want an early shed, put the lights on.

Absolutely agree with this above.
Having produced for HOYS and Olympia we very much relied on lights, particularly with one breed that we couldn't clip (breed rules at that time) for December.

I'm very anti rugging to suppress coat, having seen horses and ponies over wrapped up and hot.

No one will take any notice though, plenty of horses with massive rugs on tonight gently cooking. The worst for me is seeing the hairy cobs with rugs on.
