Too many

generally speaking

no fill
100
200
300
400

That said still have previous horses rugs so many wardrobe's

prob around 50 rugs if i total them up maybe more
As above. Old Horse isn't in anything at the moment. He's a warm horse by nature. He'll probably use his no fill Amigo rug over the early part of the winter and his full neck 200g Weatherbeata winter rug if it gets cold/wet/windy.

3 and a spare.
No fill
70g with detachable neck
200g with detachable neck
The spare is probably around 150g with no neck and questionable waterproof ness.

Woolly pony has similar
No fill
50g detachable neck
Heavier half neck, probably around 150g, only required if it’s Baltic!

My 29 yr old has three turnouts of different weights (including one lightweight and one full neck), plus a fly rug which she doesn't wear very often. However, she also sometimes wears my gelding's rug, because he's always out naked now.

For my one horse, I have downsized from at least 4.

I now have the horseware rhino varilayer turnouts in 0g and 250g plus the detachable necks provided.

I will be buying 50g, 100g and 200g liners, so I can make whatever weight I might need. Especially for mid winter if the MW isn't dry the next morning. But I don't think I have ever needed a HW turnout, but the option is there.

For him I tend not to use fly rugs, as they all pull tight on his shoulders.

Fly rug
50g liner
No fill
Medium weight
Heavyweight (under rug)

I prefer to layer rather than use big thick rugs. I prefer no neck rugs and just use a clip on when vile rain OR when I need to keep him clean.

Mine have in regular use:
0g each one is Amigo and one Rhino. I have an old spare very lightweight Amigo.

A Rambo Duo each with liners. I bought one for my newer horse but decided my oldie needed it as the 100g was ideal when he was chilly but too warm for a 200g. I then bought another one a bit bigger for the newer horse. My oldie isn’t clipped but hasn’t got a thick coat and I hunter clip my other one but rarely ever go over 200g all winter as it’s so mild in the south.

I do have still usable and waterproof 200g and 300g Rambos and a 200g Rhino. These serve as spares now.

When I had normal horses I had thousands now I have an XL beast and can’t impulse buy second had rugs :oops:

Rugs are all no necks! I’ve just bought him a turnout hood as he’s clipped this year and may invest in a 100g this year as I feel like an i between and also can be used to make a heavy weight. But as I have little self control I’ll probs just buy a HW.

no fill
50g
200g
(Also has a fly rug and drying rug/fleece which both have a next

Too many! Most don't get used! I only have 1 that gets rugged in winter now and that is my pathetic dartmoor pony ? he wears 2. A Heavyweight and a medium weight - yes at the same time. As well as having his full fluffy winter coat. As I said, he is pathetic ??

0g Shires
50g Amigo
200g PE + detachable neck
Thin Bucas Smartex
Thick Bucas Smartex
Smartex neck cover

I love the Smartex rugs, but for some reason, they both slip on Alf, so he only wears them when his other rugs are being cleaned

I have 3 turnout rugs, all weatherbeeta.

1 x no fill with neck
1 x 50g fill
1 x 200g fill

I tend to layer as well with a fleece or stable rug underneath if necessary.

My mare's been out naked most days because of the mild weather. This morning however, my livery yard turned her out because I fancied a lie in. Woke up around 8:30am to the sound of torrential rain ?, rushed down, brought her in to dry and turned her back out in her turnout. Obviously, the rain then stopped and we didn't have a drop for the rest of the day!! It was 18 degrees this afternoon, ridiculous weather for this time of year. You can't win...;)

3! A 0g, a 100g and a 300g but I also have a liner for the 100g one to make up to 200g for the majority of winter. I know people have loads but this works best for us. Pony is currently unclipped but will have a chaser or blanket clip in a month or so x

I know mine is at livery and has been living in his 100g but today it was quite warm ? he seems to be coping...I can't always predict the weather where he is so we tend to just stick him in his 100g. If I could do his rug changes every day myself it would probably be easier!

it was over 20 degrees in sun today in surrey at lunchtime. But heavy thunderstorms early and late in the day. But never below 15 degrees.

I have a terrifying number! Especially considering i have only one horse.
Definitely don't want to count! Rug buying is my addiction and I can't walk past a bargain. It does help that most recent horsey addition is the same rug size .
Had a real want to buy a new rug last week but did talk myself out of it. This thread is helping kick me into going and getting them all sorted for the winter.

This summer I had a proper sort out of my rugs. Now I only have one turnout rug (40g PE) with a detachable neck and have 100g, 200g and 300g liners. Also picked up a 200g neck for the depths of winter. Luckily he's not a rug trasher, and it means I only need to pay to get one rug washed/reproofed every year and I wash the liners at home.

I think a spare outer is probably useful in case one gets damaged or wet. (I sometimes find if I take a wet rug off a horse e.g. to ride, the wet then seeps through and cant go back on horse.)
