How Much Are you Paying for Small Bale Hay

omg!! i have paid £2.50 delivered for small hay and £22 for a big bale of june cut haylage and he comes and puts it in the field for that

Crikey! You guys down South pay a lot! Can;t see why as fuel costs the same everywhere!

We have just paid £2.50!!

In the farm shop down the road it's £4.

We paid £2.50 last year £3.50 this year.

I am paying £30 for a huge square bale and they get one large pad a day between the 2 of them in the field which I recon works out to half of a small bale... and is lasting me just over 3 weeks ..... so the maths = ........ erm

down in kent people are paying £6 a small bale and more likely to rising in winter and £30 + for rounds

If I were allowed to buy it, some suppliers are £5.25 here - but being new pony owners last year we're not classed as regular customers ergo we're not able to buy as all the merchants are saving it for their 'regular' customers, and instead I can get at £6 a bale from Countrywide or get a friend to buy it for me at £5.25.

Have enough with what we cut till Christmas at least. Am hoping/assuming will be a mild winter and price will drop.

Alternatively I can pick some up in Herefordshire for about £3 a bale when I go visit a friend - can get 12-14 in the car, so the price difference will more than pay for my diesel to visit!

£3.75p a small bale of hay (lovely quality and really tightly baled so get lots for the money!)

£2.00 a small bale of straw

It gets put in my little storage area in 1's and 2's as I need it, within half an hour of asking!

It leaves the yard for 50p more though!

(Farm Livery is great!!!)

£5 a small bale of hay (it was £3.50 last year) and my supplier is rationing it, we can have three quarters of what we bought last year.

However, I've found a local source of excellent haylage at £30 for a large bale which is lasting me over a week at the moment - I still have some grass - I think it will last a week when I have to feed haylage in the paddocks. I reckon I'd use around 15 bales of hay a week in the depths of winter, that's 75 quid eek! I'll be sticking to the haylage I think!

Last year i was paying £4 a bale, found a different supplier this year and paying £3.50 both include delivery unload and stack up for us. The hay is of really good quality so happy with the service i get :)

£4.50 delivered, was £3.50 last year but our farmer only got a 60% of last years crop. We are lucky as he owns are yard and has promised to supply us at that price until last year but off yard customers are being rationed to 2/3rd of last years supply. The only feed shop around that sells hay is £6 a bale!
