How Much do Half Pads Alter the fit of saddles?

I am getting a new Thorowgood saddle for Millie next week. I have been told to get her a wide but I really want to get her a wool lined half pad to go under it. Would the saddle then be to tight? Should I get her an extra wide saddle instead to allow room for the half pad?

Thanks

You should buy the width that fits her. It is not adviseable to by a different width and use pads, this can cause problems. If you are just going to use a half pad and no numnah, this might be ok as long as you get a thin one. If you want a half pad and a numnah then you could easily make the saddle too tight.
The best thing to do would be to try both saddles on with the saddle fitter with what you want to use underneath and see which fits.

why do you need a half pad? if the saddle is correctly fitted then very little else should be needed and it would prob be better to use a prolite thin pad for cushioning

I agree if your saddle fits you shouldnt need it and if you must have one then your saddle must be fitted with it and you should use it all the time.

I literally use a griffen high wither numnahs / saddleclothes on my sensitive TB and shes fine in everything she does.
