Lady at my yard needs her horses doing occasionally. I have said that she can pay me in future (which she is happy with), so I wanted to draw up charges. So how much do people generally pay for:

turn out/bring in
rug change
poo picking
skipping out/giving haynets & feeds
mucking out
full day care

Thank you!

on our yard all charges are the same and differ summer and winter (for rugs).
Winter:
turn out/bring in = £2 each time including feet picking and rug changes
poo picking = no set charge but £10 a week is what we were told it would cost if we didnt do it!
skipping out/haynets and feeds = £5
mucking out = £5
full day care = £10 (never understood that but apparantly the extra £1 not including poo picking which is an extra is just in case the horse is injured and needs vet - we would then stay for that at no extra charge or something)

When we go away our yo does ours for £10 each a day. Same wether they are living out or in at night. So includes at most : turnout/bring in and necessary rug changes, pick out feet, feed tea, soak hay and feed, muckout. If they are living out then she has poo picked too - didn't expect it but a great bonus (the field was fully poo picked before we went away, but she took a barrow or so out over a week which was a nice suprise!). She also gives them a groom before we get back which is great - they are mud monsters! But again, wouldn't expect this if we are only away for a short time.

Sounds reasonable. Would you charge extra for one that is difficult to handle (bites/threatens to kick and can be excitable to bring in??)??

Yeah, guess it would poss be a bit cheeky to charge extra, just wondered what people would think.... It is part and parcel of handling horses I guess!

I charge ..

Turnout/in - £1.50 per horse.
Rug change - dont charge.
Poo picking - £3 per barrow if away, £2 a barrow if at my yard.
Skipping out - £3
Giving haynets and feed - £1.50
Mucking out - £5

A full days care is - £7.50 (t/o, muck out, bring in, feed) But thats only because i do 4 on the same yard, if it was just 1 it would be more.

And if its out of my area i have to charge a bit more for peterol :D
