Does anyone know how much/what is the going rate, that you would 'normally' pay to take on a horse from a rescue/sanctuary?

Much depends on the size in many cases, I have been told. A shettie companion might require less of a donation than a useful horse.
Before everyone jumps on me, I have been told this personally by someone who knows!
You do normally have to become a supporter of the rescue centre for the duration of the loan, but I'd expect you'd be only too pleased to, and offer at least the usual borrowers fee, in the case of a companion.

Lots of places near me don't charge more than £50 but I think its nice to donate as much as you can.

i think it depends on if the horse is able to be ridden or if it'll be a companion.

HAPPA ask for an initial donation of £500 for a rideable horse, then £60/year subscription. It's a lot less for a companion horse.
