How much do you pay for shoes?

£70 for fronts with trim on backs, Inc vat. Cheshire. The shoes are lasting 6-8 weeks.
It was £65 for fronts plus trim or £100 full set, inc vat when I was North Manchester. These lasted about 5-6 weeks.

Little E has very special shoes; 19" of metal in each one so they have to be ordered in advance.

No charge for putting lost shoes back on

He is absolutely the best farrier in the area, does fantastic remedial shoeing, very well respected by the local specialist equine practice etc.

I pay via BACS so it is dead easy, he is totally reliable, is happy to help himself and shoe my horse while I’m at work then put horse away again....

Obviously I’d never be as complimentary to his face :D :D.

£75 for a full set currently, including road nails if I want them.

Am going to have to switch farrier when I move yards as it's out of his area, and I think I am looking at £85 for a full set.

£100-110 ish including VAT for Mr B and £20 for a trim on little fatty. Master farrier who has transformed Mr B's feet and is worth every penny as I think he has kept all our horses sound, always arrives on time, always comes out if I have a problem and makes me laugh! south Worcs and his he isn't taking on any new clients
 
Zero (definite benefit of being engaged to a farrier :wink3: ) but previously £75 a set plus extras. No vat, West Gloucestershire.
 
£75 inc. VAT and callout for a full set including road nails, extra for stud holes but I can't remember how much off the top of my head... West Kent.
 
I have two farriers (for different horses!)
One charges £75 for a set with road nails
The other is £70 free road nails, £35 for retired boys front refits
Trims for the ponies get done by whoever is due at the same time as they are! So £25/£30

I wonder if we use the same farrier?!! In fairness mine is a bit pricey but he's recently been out 3 times in quick succession to remove shoes, put back on, dig out abscess hole etc and never charged a penny. He's also the only one my vet will actually recommend.
 
VAT threshold is £85,000. I would expect most farriers stay under that so as not to whack their prices up by 20%. The expenses of shoes, nails, van & travel, gas, tools, insurance probably gives them an income of around £50,000 a year if they can gross £85,000, and I would have thought most farriers would be happy with that?

Mine was charging £70 in Cheshire ten years ago. I don't know what he charges now.
 
In central Scotland it's £80 a set, £45 fronts +£5 to trim hints, £20 a trim. Sometimes it's worth it, other times - like last month - it's not! Got my horse trimmed and a week later he was still crippled as he had been done too short. Took 3 weeks to get over completely.

Hmm possibly. Are you north Northumberland? Mine is the sought after farrier in this area
 
Beds/Herts border - £80 a set inc road nails every 7 weeks. Farrier is good, reliable and personal friend of my vet which can be useful. He's never charged to replace a lost shoe but horse has only lost 2 shoes in 8 years - he has fantastic feet luckily.
 
£70 for a full set. E. Yorks.

Brilliant farrier I've been using since I got chilli and she had shoes back on after her holiday. Always on time, deals really well with Chills even though she can sometimes be a pain. Sings to her! And has a bloody lovely dog who comes for the ride too.
 
About £82 for a full set, stud holes are extra (can't remember how much as not needed any yet this year). A trim for the old girl is £25. West Sussex.
 
Mine are barefoot but my old loan pony it was about £80 all in for a full set with road nails.

£95 for a full set with road nails in Surrey, although soon to be back to £115 as he needs gel pads in his fronts during the summer.
