How much do you pay for Trimming??

I pay £15, but that is for two plus he is already out shoeing my other pony - not sure how much it would be if he was coming for just one trim.
 
we pay £15 per horse to farrier, the usual price is £20 but he discounts for more than one with both shoeing and trimming so we get a £5 reduction each for having over 5 done
 
When my farrier charges, I pay £10! He doesnt always charge me....I think it depends on how naughty the horse has been and how long it was since he did it last!

He only trims when the others are shod though...I would think he would charge more if I called him out specifically to trim....
 
£15 each and I curently have three but farrier has been known to charge £10 each - depends a bit on how much needs doing really.

However, my previous farrier was charging £20 for a trim 5 years ago (guess why I changed)!
 
New farrier- £20, old farrier £15
I know someone who pays £50 for a trim, by one of those unqualified special 'trimmers', and the horses feet are awful.
Please don't get me started!
 
not sure exactly as pony always gets a trim and new shoes as we end up doing alot of road work but all together i think i pay £40-50 but not entirley sure
 
My EP charged £45.

Farrier charges £20.

I would still use the EP but I'm too far away from her and she's too busy so doesn't come over to me anymore. It's a really different experience, advice on diet, someone who doesn't mind countless questions or explaining what they're doing, who advises you on work the feet can cope with, regular photos taken so you can see progress, assessing the balance by watching the horse walk around.

My current farrier's great but takes every question as a criticism of his work.

Me too!! My farrier charges £20 per trim per horse/pony. Gives excellent advice regarding all manner of things and is usually right. Is a bit scathing of trimmers.......I think becuase a) they don;t appear to be qualified or regulated and b) they charge twice as much as him and he did a 4 yr apprentiship!
 
Woah some of you are ripped off...and zandp, love you should get that experience from your farrier!

I'm charged £10, he's out to do two other sets of shoes at £55 each. xxxx

Was just thinking the same myself. Though I'm constantly told by pro 'EP' and pro 'Trimmer' people that I'm just REALLY lucky to find a farrier that isn't a total cowboy and only want to bang massive nails into my poor ponies feet. From experience I know 4 good farriers who are all very supportive of keeping a horse without shoes. Actually I only know 4 farriers, so I must be super duper lucky. Maybe I should try the lottery.

OP - I pay my farrier £20 for a trim.

He spends about 10 minutes doing her feet and another 10 talking to me about the grass, feed, ground, rides I've been doing, blood flow, mechanics of the foot etc etc He spent 4 years studying the horse's foot (not just how to bang nails into it!) and is quite willing to share his knowledge.

yep, me too, and all for £15 from an experienced farrier who studied for years to know everything there is to know about the anatomy of the hoof and all relating to it :D Well apart from taking pics, not sure that would be totally necessaary but i suppose they have to do something to justify their fee.
