How much do you spend per year on horsey clothing for yourself?

How much do you spend on riding clothing per YEAR?

I don't buy lots of items, but what I do buy is generally of reasonable quality/cost.
I only ride in pikeur breeches now, they fit me better than any other brand - so they get replaced as and when holes appear.
I live in Ariats, either the riding trainers or the bromonts - so would usually at least replace one pair of those a year.
A decent pair of riding gloves is usually an annual purchase, and I'm a sucker for new polo shirts!

Are you me? Ha ha!

I am of an age (46) where I can afford decent riding gear for myself and my horse, plus it helps now I only have one horse rather than three. It means I can spoil him and myself.

I have a twice yearly splurge at my local tack shop (Naylors Equestrian) and can spend easily £300 each time. But do buy things throughout the year, as and when I want/need them, these tend to be from EBay.

I only wear Pikeur breeches, due to the fit and I am always on the lookout for bargains, sale items etc

I too am of an age (ahem...rather not say, cough, cough) where I can afford to buy quality brands for myself and my horse. And why not? I've worked hard to get where I am now - still do.

I only wear Pikeur or Cavallo breeches - they fit me nicely and are comfortable - I usually buy a 2-3 pairs a year. I like Ariat boots - and I usually need to replace my yard boots every year - same goes for wellies. Coats get worn out pretty quickly so I usually have a new one for every winter.

Just buying the items above is a lot of cash but I do look on Ebay and in sales or at large events for bargains.

I also tend to buy few items, but when I do I spend more. I probably buy a pair of boots per year on average (around £70) to maintain my range of summer/winter Ariat paddock boots, and a pair of short muck boots for winter. When I buy jods, I tend to spend around £70 as well to get the style I like. Add to that the odd hi viz gear, a new jacket every now and then and the odd printed polo (for some horse-related event or club), maybe a new pair of gloves and I easily get close to £200 per year. I'm in my mid-30s.

I'm 22 and I put 0-50, I spend hardly anything on myself as most goes on the horses! However sometimes I have to buy a new pair of boots or a hat so that would be a little bit more but not every year!

Very little, but when I do buy, I buy decent stuff that lasts for years. I used to ride in jeans all the time, but Alfs lightening fast spook and spin manouevre has convinced me that suede seated breeches are a very wise investment!

I don't show very much and I don't own my own horse (was leasing and hope to lease again soon). So I tend to only buy what I need and buy that on sale--in US$, this year I found a deeply discounted show jacket for $80, a show shirt for around $40, plus a pair of spurs and a new crop.

I'd love to buy more but I can't really justify the cost!

Those of you who say that your wellies keep breaking down--do people wear Bogs boots in the UK? I bought my first pair (again, deeply discounted) after Christmas last year for around $50. Based on not only my experience but those of my friends--they last forever. I know people who have had their Bogs for years and years who muck many stalls every day year 'round.

I put £100-£200 but mostly this is to replace worn out stuff when it's not near my birthday or christmas.
I find my riding boots or yard boots are likely to disintegrate at least every couple of years so that's the best part of a £100 every time, jodhs last me a few years but I like to have at least 5 pairs (they're replaced when Aldi have their deals on) so that's probably 2 a year, my riding hat is ready for changing as I wear it most days and I've had it for 5 years, gloves probably a new pair every year - nothing flashy but not the cheapest and the only other thing I have to have is decent socks - nothing worse than cold or rubbed feet so I ended up with a few new pairs every year.
I am very frugal with it but some things just wear out with all the use.

I voted between £100 and £200 but that might be an underestimate, lol.

I am just 60 and quite happy to spend money on clothes for any occasion. However I do often downgrade items from 'everyday' to 'yard'. I went to GYS yesterday and bought a new riding mac which I will use as a good waterproof coat for work whilst demoting my current one to the yard/dog-walking. My current yard waterproof will go in the bin. I like to have a waterproof jacket as well and need to replace my Regatta before the autumn but will get it from a local discount place. I also bought a new pair of short yard boots yesterday, to replace the leaky ones which have lasted 2 yrs.
The last breeches I bought were in a sale at a local tack shop and cost £10.
I do live rather too close to Equestrian Clearance for frugality, though! When you don't have to pay for postage, their stuff is even cheaper.

Hate jodhpurs. Buy black stretch skinnies from Dorothy Perkins at 25 pounds for two which last a year. Harry hall yard jodhpurs boots for 35 pounds, they last exactly one year. One pair of chaps. Riding hat is 7 years old. Probably could do with a new one but never been dropped.

I spend a fair amount (mainly on boots!). I don't wear wellies but get through a pair of Ariat steel toe capped boots every year. I bought some Ariat Volant long boots and Volant short boots and chaps last year. I expect that they will last me a few years though. I tend to buy two new pairs of jodhpurs every year, but they are the cheap kind (Dublin supafit) just because they are so comfortable and fit so well. I usually end up buying a winter coat once every two years and several gilets and fleeces when I see them on offer. So I guess I average in excess of £400 a year.

Can't admit to myself... let's just say a lot.. and a lot that I don't need but 'could' and 'might' do haha.
& I love sales! !

Horses have far too much clothes too though!

In fact this has reminded me I need a good cleaeout/car boot! X

If I had to add it up, probably about £350, closer to £500 if including purchases like riding hats or body protectors.

I probably shouldn't have written that down :D

Over £3k last year (new hats x3, BP, riding boots x2, yard boots x2, comp shirt x3, tweed, comp breeches x2, gloves, several pairs of general breeches, and a good coat). I don't anticipate spending anywhere near that this year as I've now got everything I want :). The hats were also very much unplanned, I had 2 unscheduled dismounts and smacked my head so had to buy them.

Oh dear...so far this year it's probably around £600 😱 I did get some boots also on that price which were £200+ If I add on my 5 year old daughters horsey clothes then I might have a slight panic attack so best not think anymore into this....I'm 25.

Agree 110% with this! Quality over quantity anyday :)

I have a nice pair of riding boots (£150) and a pair of hunter wellies (£90) that I bought this year. That's all I'll buy for the next couple of years now, aside from a showing outfit at some point (hacking jacket and breeches only). I don't buy into horsy fashion - why on earth should I buy a £40 t-shirt just because it has a brand on it? I'd rather go to Topshop and spend £15 on a t-shirt that I can wear to the stables and outside of horsey life. I don't use jodhpurs - I wear leggings (from wherever) if i'm riding or jeans if I'm just doing chores. Both easily washed and able to be worn outside of the stables!

I buy myself one new pair of breeches per year plus riding socks as required. Anything else I need I ask people to buy me for my birthday or Christmas. Or I ask for tack shop vouchers so I can go and have a spend up! :)
