Unfortunately things have not worked out with my Andalusian and I have made the decision to sell him. In the last few weeks I believe a small flat sarcoid has formed near his under his belly near his sheath. How much would this affect his price? He was only imported from Spain in Feb 2021 and moved around a fair bit since being in the UK. I have no idea how to price him in the current market.

If it's relatively new is it worth getting a vet to have a look to confirm it definitely is one? A new one would put me off but one that had been there and stable for years in a location that's not near tack wouldn't worry me.

If it had been there ages and not changed and was the only one I’d be more open minded.
A new one, I’d not even view. Sorry.
There are others who are much more pragmatic about them though

i also wouldn't really want to buy a horse with a new one.
My loan horse has one between his hind legs which has been the same for years and that wouldn't put me off too much but i would want the price to reflect it as no treatment would be covered by insurance.

I wouldnt be bothered if its just the one. Ive had 2 horses with a sarcoid, never had any issues. Both horses sarcoids did react one summer with the flies and went red and sore looking. I put turmeric (yes, dont care if you laugh at me!) and sudocrem on them daily and both horses sarcoid healed up beautifully to the point they disappeared. Both horses are many years older and have never had sarcoids since. So my experience of them has been good. If the horse were riddled in them then thats different.

An andalusian will always command a premium as there's not many of them in the UK so I believe they're still a bit of a novelty. I think ultimately ignore the sarcoid, price him at what he is and people will either not be bothered and pay or wont even view no matter what the price.

I had a young horse for sale a few years ago, he had a couple of tiny sarcoids on his sheath, one person viewed and was hysterical over them, another person turned up and wasn't bothered and bought the horse for the asking price. So I'd just put him up for the price you want and see what happens.
